  • Should I upgrade my TRex 250 to Flybarless?

Hi all, I'm thinking of changing my 250 to flybarless....is it worth it? I only fly this outside, and would probably replace it with an mcpx v2 if I sold it, which I would also fly outside. I have experience with beastx and 3gx is there any benefit of one of these over the other on such a small heli? Many Thanks, Ian.

    IMHO - Yes.

I've been flying both my 250's in the back garden today and my Flybarless Beast X is way better than my Flybarred Hyperion / Phoenix 25.
The downside (for the beast X) is that the swashplate needed to be modified for best results.

I was going to do this, but thought I would see how others get on first!

What kind of mod are we talking about Paul as I thought I'd have to get the rjx or microheli fbl head if I went flybarless?

Don't know. Got mine from a dealer in hk off eBay. Took about 5 days to arrive. I have also upgraded my 450 & 500 to fbl using the copterx system from ehirobo. At 30 usd per item is an absolute bargain.

                Hi Ian,

I see your familiar with Beast X. The 250 will fly OK with no modification to the Swashplate, but to get perfect head geometry and get that blue light at the infamous step J, then some mods will need to be done. Most noteably the balls needed to be moved further out on the swash. Also the ball links were moved further in on the servo arms.

I picked this up from various forums & shouldn't be too difficult to find.

IMHO - it flew better after this.

                Paul.

BTW - I have the Align Head and can only really comment on that.
