The idea with F3C is that it's down to pilot skill, not software programmer skill, which is what it ultimately comes down to with a FBL controller, so while the pilots may want FBL the governing body don't as it comes down to how do you prove it was down to the pilot and not the FBL controller. I also reckon a Helicommand with all the GPS and altitude sensors could fly most of the hovering section of the F3C schedule without pilot input already, so it won't be long before someone will make a box of tricks that could do it all.

Come on though... FBL systems don't exactly fly the heli for you!?! For me i think it just makes the heli go where you tell it to. It makes it a more linear flying process and experience. Also... systems like the Futaba 750 fly very very similar to how a flybar would feel... even down to a similar response in windy conditions. I don't think its fair to suggest flying an FBL heli requires less skill. With an FBL heli you are flying the heli and not the flybar!

Personally im not entirely convinced by fbl, but I get a feeling I am heading that way, getting the thread back on track. I still think lipo's have a way to go before they entirely take over. so I cant see Align flushing all their r&d down the loo just yet, however if you look at the new leccy 600 and 700 it seams maybe the ic are a follow on to these instead of the other way around.
        All the best

For the sportsman who just wants to fly, which is what I consider myself to be, nitro has got a lot of mileage left in it. There is also the the better initial cost model as you don't have to by £,00's of batteries right away just to have a decent days flying, although I'm not going to say it doesn't have the potential to be just as expensive in the long run, maybe more so.

Even if there is any truth in the rumour that Align are going to go all electric, I'm sure they would continue to make spares for the existing nitros for at least a couple of weeks afterwards.

Electric dont need any extras just batterries - like fuel, fuel filler, starter, and starter battery, somewher to fly that doesnt like a noisy nitro, glow plugs and spanner, glow start 2-in-1, lipo for 2-in-1 - They dont get covered in all that crapp

              SO ELECTRICS IS THE WAY

Steve - Have a look at Bob J comments - he's the 2nd UK Align Importer after Robbie, parts for nitros will be around for a very long time for Nitros by law they have to be... just no new Nitro Kits

Yup, just batteries, chargers, power supplies.

Then having to worry about storage charging your lipos etc....

                  O, and..

There are merits to both, just some suit others better.

You are technically correct however if I look at the guys who fly electric then they either need big leisure batteries or a big generator to charge at the field and to charge at reasonable rates they're looking at high power chargers and power supplies, so they seem to cart as much stuff to the field as I do with my nitros.

If you crash an electric heli then you may get a fire and the result of your pictures but at least you dont get the funky chicken dance that you get with nitro's.

That was dragged out the back of a van that was on fire Ross not a crash!!!!
Nobody knows what happened but heli & lipos went up in flames causing the damage shown.

They have already abandoned the limits on 90 sized engines in FC3 for next year, whether they allow FBL or not it can only be a matter of time, trouble with aligns is everyone's got one, and they become boring to see flying around, I say good job they are only making electrics, hopefully they go one more step and only make 450s..................
