I cannot control this heli no matter what I do. Can anyone please give me some advice on setting it up ?

Just stand on it and put it in the bin. Like me, you appear to have one that doesn't work, and never will.

Mine doesn't even have consistent servo movement. Sometimes one moves, sometimes both, sometimes neither, so it is clearly impossible to set up. The tail is appalling too, much worse than the MSR's.

I am an Align fanboy, but even I can't defend this rubbish.
Life's a bitch and then you fly!!

Do you have kind of experience flying this sort of heli? Just checking

              Hey.

Don't stand on it, it's a great little machine and more than a match for the MSR as far as fixed pitched models go!
Many will cite my signature on this statement, but I'd look a bit silly to sing somethings praises if it wasn't of reasonable quality atleast.

Baring the weaker canopy material, it's quite a tough little bird and capable, but does exhibit the usual fixed pitch model traits especially if you start moving it around a bit.

Out the box mine was a little lively to be comfortable and this is coming from someone with a lot of flying experience. However the fix was to move the control links in one hole on the servo arms and the model was instantly a lot more comfortable to control.

Tail wise, mine has been going well on the stock tail blade. There is an improved version, which I have but have not fitted as it's going well as it is.

The automatic cyclic input on power up was catching me out on first lift off's, you do need to power up to half stick pretty quickly to get the model out of this software phase and working as normal as far as swashplate movement goes.

What sort of problems are you seeing exactly?
It's not impossible to have a duff one out of the box with so many being made, but it's a slim chance.

No, I am a complete beginner. I did set the side arms to what is spposed to be the simple setting, but still no good.

I cannot get it to hover. It seems to have a mind of it's own.

If you are a complete beginner then welcome to the world of helis my friend!!!! I am almost certain there is nothing wrong with the model. It is NOT easy to fly helis. Even the fixed pitch ones like this if you have never done it. Do you know anyone that flys helis? Any mates or anything. If you are a complete newbie you are in for weeks of frustration before you have any real control over it. It takes patience and dedication. It is not something you can just pick up and just fly. Practice practice practice.... and more practice. Get a simulator too. Did the 100 come with a sim?

Hovering in one spot is very hard to do. I have no idea why you expected to just be able to fly it really. The heli will need trimming. But even that takes experience and a basic understanding of the physics of the movements of the heli.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have spirit v3 which I can hover but it is too big to use in the room I use, so I bought the T-rex thinking I could get handling experience over the winter months indoors. I am a retired mechanic so am a practical person. I am certain I am getting the settings right as per the manual, and at times seem to be almost there then the heli just goes wherever it wants. I have also bought the Phoenix Sim and seem quite reasonable on that.

Ok so you do have a bit of experience then. It will require constant input to keep it one place. But you must know that if you can hover your other heli. Maybe post a video showing the flight characteristics? Then we can see if it is going mental or if its a problem with the human interface Have you trimmed it? i.e take off... Make a note of the inputs you have to make to get it as in one place as you can... land it... then using the trim compensate for those inputs. So if you are having to push the elevator forward to make it not drift backwards.... use the elevator trim and click it forward 3 or 4 times. Take off and check it again. Then keep doing this until you don't have to push forward to stop it going backward..... if that make sense

This is the key piece of information, we actually sent one back and had it replaced before we figured out the behavior was 'normal'

If you try to gently raise the throttle and lift off slowly you'll get into all sorts of trouble. Just pop it off the ground into the hover and all should be fine.

Hi and thanks again. I know the swash plate is level but one thingI have noticed is that if you hold the heli and rev it up when you push the elevator down the blades do not seem to be on a level keel, they kind of go down and slightly to the right. I would have expected them to go straight if you know what I mean. I am wondering if the main body is not right. I have just broken a flybar so I have ordered that and a body to see if that helps.
The 2 helis seem to have different characteristics. The spirit has not got the bias on the aileron servo. All it needs is a definaterev up to waist height. I know what I really need is more control experience

Hi Mark, I tried that last night and it veered violently to starboard hit the door and broke the flybar. When you rev up holding the heli and move the ailerion that seem to operate on a level axis but the when the elevator control is moved forward the blades go dow and slightly to the right.
I have ordered a flybar and a body to see if that is bent. The problem is that one time the hei will veer left and next time right. It really does seem to do what it wants by itself. I alter the servo rods half a turn at a time to try and get it right but it doesn't seem to work. I am going to fit the new body and start from scatch on the set up.
Many thanks to all who have replied
