  • Look what I started building today ;)

Not seen many threads on the new align 600 v2 but it wasnt going to be long before one came back into my fleet.I have had every version of it so far so it kinda was a given
Heres how far I've got so far with it, I do like the design of the new head.

Are there many differences between the 600N v1 and v2? From the picture above the frames look the same, so is it just the head that's changed or are there other differences?

On the one i built I had to file the frame mounting blocks to fit the main frames. The flybar locating cut outs were in the wrong place, this made the flybar offset. The main drive gear set bolt is loose on the main shaft, I think the hole in the main shaft is too big, I haven't checked yet.

DSC00600.jpgI've just checked and it looks like the bolt hole is too big, I think this means that the bolt Is more likely to sheer.

I must admit there is a little play in the main shaft that I couldnt put my finger on d a baker.
I tend to just pull up on the head then do up the mast stopper I wouldnt expect this to make any difference tho to the likelyhood of the jesus bolt snapping.
I'm not 100% sure of the differences between this & the v1 but in the main I beleive its the head which is much more like the outrage in its design I'm hoping this is going to sort any wandering in pitched moves that the v1 wasnt very good at. Backwards travelling flips were just awful on all but the Le in my experience.

DSC00601.jpgJust checked my500e, no play whatsoever. So back into the likelihood of the bolt snapping, every time torque is applied there will be movement between the main shaft and the bolt. I'd like to hear other people's comments about this.

A bit more done this morning & at least its standing on its own two feet now.
Top tip for putting the tank in is to attach a peice of fuel tubing to the outlet pipe & the presure feed pipe.
Put an align fuel clamp on both & close off the breather side pipe. Now suck out the air from the tank till the top of the tank pulls in enough so the tab that goes between the frames is just flush or under the outer sides of the tank then shut the clamp off on the tubing so it stays that way.
It's now easy to slide the tank through the frame rubbers & when in place let the clamps off so the tank expands to fit nice and snug. No need to cuss & curse anymore when fitting tanks

I fitted my tank before i bolted the two side frames together, this was my first nitro build and it seemed the obvious thing to do.
