Stick a new ring in it.
This was what I was thinking, it was much harder to turn before it started playing up. I've got a new ring on order and I can see if that is some kind of cure - hopefully.

Saying that, what engine is it? How old is it? When did the problem start? etc...
+1 could be tank pressure leak, idle too lean. i had problems with both save yourself a hole heap o pain and first check the tank grommets are not letting out pressure! i found on my os91 hz-r after half a tank or in a steep clime it would lean right off and stall, pants tricky auto time! new tank (holes oveled in old tank. new grometts and richer idle sorted for me).

      cheers cuppa.

I don't think it's a tank leak as there's no sign of a leak when it's filled to the top.

Yes i know my'n showed no sign of leaking fuel too! it would only let out the pressure when the fuel was shy of the gromett ,drove me mad for ages! sticky one way valve don't help or smeg on the regulator diaphram, a Fuel magnet clunk/filter realy keeps any muck out.

          cheers cuppa.
