Is this it?.. I thought they were redesigning the whole model or is this just a bridge until that happens?

Looks like a few minor upgrades, the new adjustable head, gearbox, tail grips, carbon tail pushrod, radial bearings, clutch and fan...

Well the head looks a mess and totally pointless for most now as the demand for FBL rises.

For me, even though I'm particulaly into fly bar tuning at the moment, that head looks a nightmare.

The rest of the upgrades ? - you decide but I'm giving this one a miss.

In fairness what were they going to do. If it were me take the best bits of the models I'd designed and then release it as a whole. Which is what they've done. A heli consists of some frames, something to fasten them together, some bearings and a power source. It's the head that makes it work, granted more and more are going fbl but one of the biggest criticisms of the 600 is the fact is it is what it is out of the box. Here you can make it what you want. I don't get the criticism to be honest

My Criticism would be that it appears more to be a sales driven venture than an actual upgrade. I would have liked to have seen better bearings, metal fan, upgraded tail hub, a new govenor...

But thats just my preference, as I said - you decide whats important to you.

How do you know they aren't better bearings. Have they advertised such, why a metal fan. Does it do a better job than a plastic one. Granted the governor is shit. Of course it's sales driven, that's the whole point otherwise we'd be stuck with heli babies from the 70's. We might not like Align for whatever reason but I still don't get what people are expecting form the 600 V2. I confused.

Edit: I might be wrong about the heli baby thing, before my time, sort of.

I still like Align.. dont think theres anything majorly wrong with the brand.. best balance of a model/price/support... Its not that i'm expecting X or Y from the V2.. its just that theres been alot of revised models in the range and I thought they were redesigning it and not chucking new parts on

Mslater - There is a new tail hub Have to agree with dave on the fan situ.. loads of models run plastic fans or you can get 4 aftermarket versions IIRC... Also.. I dont think the heads any more of a mess than a Outrage or Avant head.

Ps. I am going to get the new V2 silver tail hub (to match the head) and carbon rod when it comes out

Hi,
I'm currently building one. Going very nice. The head is simple to set up. There are 3 settings on the main blade grips; +Delta for increased response speed, Zero delta for normal and Neg delta for decreased response. Then there are 2 holes within the upper and lower mixing arms for 3d or f3c. I now also have the main body together. Build is going as expected. Only issue I've had is the little flats on the flybar were machined a bit to far outwards from centre. This was just a simple file job to extend them inwards so the grub screws now sit on them.
Any questions, fire a way and I'll answer in the morning. Also let me know if you need any pics of certain bits and again I'll try to take them tomorrow.

Yep, That style of head is a doddle to set up
Does the v2's head have adjustable phasing this time or is it just programmable? I think the v2 will apeal to those who like the reliability of the align models with the ability to finer tune the way it flies which lets face it is limited with the v1 head.

I must admit being a bit disappointed from my 1st impressions. I was looking forward to a major overhaul whereas it looks like they've just tweaked up a V1. I was hoping it would be slimmed down and somewhat lighter and they haven't even come up with a new paint job on the canopy.
Im still expecting this to be a pretty good model though, I was going to get one as soon as they were released but now I'm thinking I'll hold on a bit until I start hearing some feedback on just how different they are from a V1.
