  • Auto bearing locking?

At the end of each flight today my one way bearing on my 600 seemed to be locked it could be freed of by turning the gears and then felt perfect any ideas

Swap it out mate, if you use a really thick grease perhaps this could happen... Personally I've always used grease in one way bearings with no probs.

Maybe it needs grease or oiling, but damage has probably already happened.

I think the older 600 One Way's used to stick quite a bit. Not sure if your running an older 600 or not. I would simply replace it like laurence has said.

I lubricate my one ways with Tri-Flo synthetic

Hi Glenn, I went through this for while, hunted the forums for a solution and struggled with finding anything that gave a cure. spent loads on new one way bearings, greases, hubs etc. began to think was going nuts until i found that it is critical that the one way bearing is completely flush with the top of the carrier, any sight protrusion above the case will cause it to lock on the one way bearing sleeve (it has a flange on the top so when the one way operates the carrier has a slight upward thrust which when it reaches the sleeve flange locks the two together). I've done loads since for other people and they've all worked fine, if you need more detail just pm me and i'll send you some images to assist in my explanation.

I would first clean the one way with carb or brake cleaner may well have smeg in with the grease stoping the cams in the bearing releasing.(can happen in realy cold weather if grease is used) i only lightly oil the bearing with a light oil.

          cheers

Ive gone from grease to Tri-flo oil/lube on all my machines.. it seems to work better with oil. So liek Cuppa said, clean it out and redo
