Converting 700LE to FBL questions

My awesome pride and joy 700LE is about to be stripped and rebuilt as a FBL machine. She has nearly 100 flights on her, so new balls and links going on, plus all the bearings will be checked over.

At the same time, I will be re building her with a shiny new KDE one piece head block, and FBL grips and links. I have the shorter main shaft ready as well.

Do I need to replace the Aileron arms, and the Elevator arm set, with the ones with a second inner hole in them from the 700e?

Also, what distance are the balls apart on the servo wheels for FBL?

Any other tips or help would be great.

Did the exact same thing to my LE Rob. Used the short main shaft, Align FBL head, new bell cranks, A arm (bottom part only) and Align servo wheels all using the inner holes.

Fitting these parts gives the CGY the best chance to work to it's potential - AFR values at the required 50-65% for AIL, ELE and PIT and gains upwards of 75-85% for ELE and AIL.

Pedro is 100% correct. I made my LE's into FBL using Align head, short main shaft and then new bellcranks and elev arm. Vbar 5.1.

I used the short part of the 700E A arm but you have to screw the ailoron links in a long way. I have KDE bearing blocks and the swash just clears this on a full neg full cyclic position.

Also, check to make sure you get the correct length linkage rods from the blade grip to the swash, there are two different lengths 65mm and 71mm, if you are using the shorter main shaft, you need the 700E FL linkage rods.

Only mention this as one conversion we did, caused about an hours head scratching before we realised we had the wrong rod lengths!!

use the Align servo wheels the new ones with the two sets of holes these if using futaba / align servos HSP61004 (HN6048AT) <b> NEW TYPE </b> F Servo Horn Set

I use the outer hole as i like the feel but you can use the inner hole the idea is to use all the servo movment for better resolution, but I belive if using V bar/ futaba/ beast x you may need to use the inner holes to get the right cyclic deflection.

so in short use
short mainshaft H70035 700FL Main Shaft
short links H70066 700EFL Linkage rod(A) Set
700 E elevator arm on the inner hole (but use the old A arm with the new elevator crank) H70046 Elevator Arm Set
700 E aileron belcranks <b>HN7034BA</b> Metal Aileron Lever/Black
align servo wheels. HSP61004 (HN6048AT) <b> NEW TYPE </b> F Servo Horn Set

Note other shops are available to buy from ;-)


now a warning !!!! I have used metal servo wheels and every crash (oops) resulted in severe servo damage , not good, I now use the align plastic wheels and these just strip the splines and not kill the servos, maybe 3D gods could strip them in flight ? but you will be ok ;-)

Have done one of my 700s with shortened 700E main shaft, 700E bell cranks and the bottom half of the A frame, As Gavin says 700E pitch links are required, mine is on a BeastX and is simply fantastic. I have all the parts to do the second one and this will be going on very soon
