  • Align 3g set up Help

Can anyone help with Align 3g set up ???? Using a DSX9, 120 CCPM x 3 servo set . inhibited all switches not needed with device select, got swash mix 60% aileron. -60% elevator and 38% pitch which gives me + - 12deg collective and 10deg cyclic .Using a RJX head . Elevator servo (3) plugged into elev on receiver. aileron (2) plugged into aileron on receiver, pitch servo (6) plugged into aux 1 on the receiver. this configuration works fine as I flew it when it was flybared. I then removed each servo lead from the receiver and plug them into their respective place in on the Align 3G unit and plug the cable output from the 3G back into the receiver each cable into its respective place in the receiver. When I power up holding the set button the five leds scroll but the odd thing is that the status light flashes green /red a couple of times and then goes to green at this stage the unit is in DIR mode and works perfectly everything is mechanically set up. I then move the swash plate to 0 deg/ throttle at mid stick and press set, keeping the throttle at mid stick (0 deg) I move the elevator forward and then back to centre press set to go into E Rev in order to test gyro sense and the swash plate goes into full pitch and stalls the servos and nothing else works, can you
shed any light on what I'm doing wrong. I have bought this second hand and was told it has
been upgrades to V3, could there be an issue here

    Hey.

It's certainly strange that the unit drives the servos to full pitch during setup of the elevator gyro sense, to me this almost says a duff unit.

To start with I would suggest a V3 or V2.1 firmware reflash to reset the whole 3G, then install in the model and run through the DIR setup again. If it still throws a wobbly then I would say you have developed a fault.

An area to look at is the link cable between sensor and main box, as there have been crimped pin issues which can lead to strange behaviour.

A couple of ideas, but your power supply to the receiver/servos is good and capable? As power issues can cause strange things.

Also you've not tried it with a different set of servos also maybe?

        Your welcome buddy.

Keep us posted on what happens, if you reflash the firmware and it fixes it or other.

I had the same problem with a new unit
Flashed it back to v 2.1 went through the DIR set up then flashed it back to v3, been working fine since.

Brilliant news, you can start enjoying it in the model now.

If you feel the need to try some other settings I have some nicely tuned already to go I can send you.

                  No worries, your welcome buddy.

Yeah sure, settings are attached for you to try.
They are in the form of .txt files which can be open in the Align PC Link software to display where I have set the sliders etc, then flashed across to the 3G by hitting the write button.
