  • removing engine in 600

    Hello,

I'm looking for some tips on removing the engine in my 600. Angles no good for getting my hex drivers in so im stuck using the little hex wrench which seems to take forever to get done. Must be some tricks or special hex drivers available to get into awkward places?

    Cheers,
    Dave.

I use ball end hex driver so you can have them at a angle. great on removing engines.

      Take the fan shroud off..

      Take the skids off...

Undo the side engine mount bolts.. (holding engine mount to frame and not the engine to the mount)

and slide the whole engine/bottom plate out in one

Took my 600 engine many times and think what screws are hard to get at and use my hex screwdrivers easily.

I find you don't need to remove the skids, just unbolt engine and fan shroud, muffler off and throttle link, engine and fan shroud jiggles out.

No, i mean the way you explained it, it doesnt require any difficult bolts to remove with anything other than a normal hex wrench, i remove mine exactly the same as you do, i guess he is trying to undo the engine mount screws rather than the screws going through the carbon frames on the mounts.

I remember it being easier than that eddie, never had to take the skids and bottom plate off mine that i can remember, the 600 has got to be the quickest engine drop of em all!

Undo engine bolts, loosen carb bolt and 4 screws holding fan shroud. Engine pops out of base plate without removing anything else, except of course the exhaust. Ball end drivers for engine bolts

I have done it the ball end driver way but I find it awkward that way.. hate taking the ball hex in and out on half turns without scratching something.. I just prefer the way I mentioned even though it removes more things as its easier and can do it without struggling or ball end drivers in less than 10 mins :
