  • Nearly lost the 700 today!

Near miss today, folks. After a few aerobatics and abrupt changes of direction I noticed the unmistakable sight of the lipo rx pack hanging through the bottom of the canopy! I landed in a hurry and saw that the velcro had given way. The battery was hanging by the jst connector: had that let go we'd have had a total loss of control while the engine was going full tilt!

Surely you must of had a strap around the lipo and not just on a velcro pad?????

              I was taking the P.

I'm sure the OP had a velcro strap round it as well as a velcro pad... but I have had the strap come loose...hence why I now use two straps in such cases or a really broad one.
Velcro doesn't last forever especially if it gets a bit of nitro snot on it

Yeah 2 lots of velcro - the strap held, but the one that's glued in place (the pad) had let go, presumably through age. The batt then slid past the strap and the rest is in the photo. I took this as a hint and went home!

Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
