My install

OK here's my installation stock Align stuff and 3G.
I'm running a Spektum AR7100 RX so eliiminates the need for a voltage regulator. I also use the soft switch that comes with it to save having to pop the canopy off to turn on/off the RX.

I'm running 2 satellite RX units one top and one bottom make sure you have the right antenna pointing to the outside (only one side works the other is a ground)

3G unit mounter inside the plastic nose piece on the left,

RX mounted on the right the antenna poking through the hole in the nose. 3G sensor with wires pointing out the back.

The Castle 120HV ESC mounted on the carbon plate at the rear have the wires running inside the right side of the frame.

It has double sided tape behind it, and a cable tie just for extra security.

Correct Kel, you shouldnt.

Velcro is fine.

Hey Kel.

It's only Robs regulator zip tied to the frame as he's got a 700N, you wouldn't want it too tight over the top of anything electronic I'd say, but loosely is ok.
However you are right reminding people not to zip tie ESC's, as these don't take to kindly to being crushed internally.

Cable ties make a strong narrow grip across the ESC / Reg choose which and can deform the unit if tightened up too much.

Try sending them back for a free replacement with a nasty crease across the body of the unit.

You certainly made a point about using a DX8 on these forums regarding safety and you still run a 2 in 1 Align reg on a 700..

Let me remind anyone using an Align 2 in 1 reg what "Can" happen when it fails.

I don't need telling twice, this heli was written off after this incident..

I'm using cable ties on my Castle ESC it allows air flow over the unit (you certainly wont distort the heat sink) I have seen velco straps put round ESC this is wrong you effectively masking off the cooling fins. I run good quality self adhesive velcro (not tape) on the underside to mount it as on all of the electric conponents it make life easier if you need to work on the model, double sided tape is a PITA I avoid it like the plague.

im still unsure to an ideal placement for the 3g controller, got a place for everything else any more help / photos would be appreciated.

do i just stick it to the back of the throttle servo?

To be fair Tim, this is an old photo of my 700. It is not flying at the mo, as changing over to a Futaba Rx, and also 2in1 is gone, as I now use LiFe packs direct to the Rx without a switch or Reg.

The cable tie on my 2in1 was very loose, and just there as insurance policy to cover the double sided tape behind, as there is not much area to stick to inside the electronics tray.

My 2in1 did do almost 100 flights as well, so I was lucky!
