  • New to helis and just bought trex 600

Ok as I'm a new flyer, i need some tools but unsure what to buy. Don't want cheap and nasty stuff that will brake. I have a pitch gauge only at the mo, was looking at this on the phone while at work, so can't post proper link item number 200602840784 (fleabay)
Will this do or do i need more.

    Cheers

Thread lock - Loctite 243 lots of (i use a 50ml bottle, expensize but does last)

on the face of it what your looking at seems okay, but i have found with hex drivers is that you really need a quality set and i can't emphise the difference in quality between a good set and bad. You may well be fine with these, but i really recommend the Align Z024 set for hexes. On the cheaper stuff the heads round off pretty easily.

But as i say these may be fine.

ive always used either HUDY or PB swiss tool but i find the hudy alot better to get hold of, the grip is 10x better! metal handle are ideally what you want

As a noob links would be fantastic, enables me to just click and buy. Not the biggest fan of eBay it's getting worse daily, and would in most cases try and look before i buy. Item was just a guide to what i may or may not need, def don't want no cheap monkey metal crap.

I have some Allan keys that I bought when I had my nitro and petrol trucks, and are still good 7yr later. But limited in what i have, so want to stock up again.

I bought the same set from FL I broke the head off the small hex driver undoing a ball link on the swash. Threadlock had done its job. I bought a set of Align hex drivers from Midlands and find these far better quality. Also the ball link pliers I find a little large at times to undo links like the tail link on the 450.

i just had a look at the HUDY tool set and its expensive, cheaper alternative is to go for the tool set youve mentioned, looks ok, i have the pliers from the set and they are pretty good

I bought some naff tools to begin with and they just about did for getting my 600 built. I wouldnt recommend this, so i went ahead and bought all seperate sized hex drivers from Wera, and they are excellent. I ordered the majority of them from a firm called CPC farnell . Im new to the hobby also , but you will soon realise as you progress so does your tools in your flight box, Ive easy got 4 times as much stuff in there, from what i did when i first started. Here is list of some of the tools i have this is all i can remember off the top of my head.

Hex drivers ranging from 0.9 -3.5mm
Standard allen keys ( i have a small set that ranges from 1-10mm
                        standard pliers
                        ball link pliers
                        needle nose pliers
                        wire cutters
                        tweezers long and short
toothbrush (handy for cleaning hard to reach places)
craft knife ( i prefer the ones where you crack off the blade)
                        selections of phillips screw drivers
small slotted screwdriver for engine tuning
                        Glow plug spanner
                        soldering iron
                        watchmaker screw driver set
                        digital vernier calipers

                        blue and green loctite
3in1 oil ( i use this alot on the head just too flush off alot of the shite that accumulates in the small nooks and krannys)
after run oil ( havent used this much)
Silicone based glue which can peel off ( use this on my plugs going in to the receiver , never can be too careful)

Sorry if that dragged on abit , there probably more but i really cant be arsed to start rummaging through the box
