  • 700 Tail Rod Issue

    Hi All,

Not sure if anyone else suffers from this but I'm fed up with the 700 Tail Rod Guides breaking. They're becoming a right royal pain.

Hence, I've looked at various options and like the look of the 700E Carbon Tail Rod. The part listing states it's for the 700E but the listing for the Carbon Rod Guide states it's OK for the 700E and 700N.

I called a couple of shops and whilst one said it would fit a 700N, the other shop said it wouldn't!!

Therefore, my question is "Has anyone actually tried this and does it work?"

    Thanks

How bizarre I have never had one break all the time I have been flying 700's.

I simply slide a cable tie between the guides and the boom then trim to suit. After a crash they can be used again and again.

    Never used glue yet.

Same method I use too. They keep snapping though - Photo attached.

Never had one break either. Might be worth checking your torque tube bearing for wear - could be causing vibes along the boom.

I suspected vibration but never thought about checking the tube bearing - Thanks!

For info, it's always the guide nearest the frame.

my mate has a simular problem, he keeps breaking two of the 3 guides, always the ones at each end, the one in the middle near the boom supports never break. we know theres a vib there cos we could feel it but havnt found what it is yet. checked the torq tube all looks ok. we did find the rear gears on the tail box had a large high spot but i dont think hes tried the heli since we changed the gears.
                  Thanks
