Anyone know if it's possible to source a one way bearing separately for a TRex 700N. All I can find is an entire replacement hub/bearing/sleeve for about 45 quid which is pretty steep:
Nope I cant find a place either.. whether under dimensions or bearing ref.. the only other option is the N9 one way.. but thats £61.. so the £45 seems pretty good with all the other stuff!

Bit out of order for Align not to sell the bearing on it's own if you ask me -I mean how many people actually bend the hub itself compared to those who need just the bearing. Very few would be my guess.
Anyway... I've disassembled it and given it a good clean and it now seems to work ok so I think it must have got clogged up before and stopped working. Looks like I can reuse it (unless anyone has had a bad experience doing this?) but have a couple of questions...
1. In the manual it says to use grease on the bearing but I've heard others saying that light oil is better (e.g. 3-in-1 oil). Any views on this?
2. Do I need to use anything to bond the outer bearing sleeve to the main hub (e.g. loktite) or does it just get held in by the clamping pressure of the two hub pieces? There's no mention of loktite in the manual.
you can almost certainly find the bearng with enough perseverence since align don't make them and wilkl be buying in a standard that fits...GMN Bearings Insert Elements FE400Z products has FE-423Z listed... Or even swap it out for a simpler roller grab bearing of good size.. bUT these twist grab clutches...not sure of their real name.. are better than the grab roller type and usually only fail if they get dirty or you manage to bend a tooth messing about with it.
On other helis I've owned with this type of system the recommendations were on one to leave it unlubed and the other to lube the whole centre with triflow oil..the arguments for and against really hinge on dirt getting back in and sticking to any grease or oil. If you cleaned it and it works then it works :-). I'd probably use triflow grease or even lithium grease
As for re-assembly.. push fit is fine if tight enough. If in doubt stick it in there...theoretically green locktight but I;ve had that fail on a simple 500 one-way that was sloppy..ended up suing eposxy on that one.. nowt wrong with overkill...

I've seen that the bearing is an FE-423Z but I read on Helifreak that it is some kind of non standard size -don't know if that is correct or not so I might look into it some more.
When you say Triflow oil, am I right in thinking that is the same as '3-in-1' oil?
Triflow is lovely stuff..thinner than 3:1 and also available as a grease version..teflon oil??.. FL do stock it. In most cases for things like lubing a swash it really does only need 1 drop..speads out beautifully. I waste it a bit by using it on the TT bearing rubbers too for fitting them
I realised I had a bottle of Triflow that I bought ages ago. Seems to work great and the one way now feels good as new. So that's another 45 quid kept away from Align's coffers. Result!
