  • Play in 700 Control Shaft

    Is this normal?

    Followed the manual and everything seems to be there, but there is about 1-2mm of play in the bellcranks.

    I presume these will do the job though?

    They should have had shims in the kit, but yes QUK will be fine

          Should be perfect size. I think you will require one QUk shim on each side.

              Look in the spares bag- I found one in there.

              From memory, you only need one.

                From memory I needed a shim each side on both my 700 builds

                Suppose it depends on the tolerances on the control shaft length??

                    Long time ago i built my 700 but seem to remember x4 shims in
                    the parts bag x2 thin x2thick all went in x2 each side.
                    the levers must move freely. evenly shimd both sides with no
                    end float!

                      Just got the part through from the link above - don't think its the right size. I think we need the shims that fit in between the bell crank and the bearing on the frame and these are too small for that...

                        You need 5mm shims, not 3mm... Doh.
