  • 3G 700 degrees

I've set my cyclic to 12 & collective to 14 but on cyclic she feels too calm so do I need to up the degrees or alter the governor to up the engine power around centre stick or the other option is to add in some cyclic to throttle.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

    Hey.

No, altering the head speed won't have the effect your after really and possibly put your engine out of its power band in turn looking you control power. Also adding more pitch range will probably allow the blade to stall meaning it will be less effective, 14/12 is plenty.
Your best option and correct way is to up your aileron and elevator swash plate mixing values as these have the same effect as the rudder ATV has on piro rate, in this case altering the flip and roll rate which is controlled by the 3G gyros.
Just like the tail gyro where piro rate is controlled by the rudder ATV, so to is flip and roll rate by the swash mix values telling the 3G to allow a faster rate of motion.

You can do this change out of DIR mode and on the field, having a test flight and going up or down on the swash values to get the desired cyclic rates.

Out of interest what figures are you running? In running +-14 on pitch with 10 degrees on cyclic, swash values to 68% on my 700E and its flips and rolls quick.

To get 12 degrees on cyclic I have to reduce swash mix to 44% on aile/elev & pitch 36% everything else is by the manual so where have I gone wrong!

Try going in on the swash servo arms... sounds like your out too far
This will allow you to up your swash mix figures and also put you in the sweet spot for the 3g gyros

          Hey.

As above where are your steel balls mounted in the servo wheels? It sounds like you've converted a 700N and still using the Align servo wheels with the steel balls furthest away from centre, for the 3G you need to move them in to the inner holes.
Remember to do all 3 ccpm servo wheels, alieron, elevator & pitch servo.

In theory you can run on the outer holes as I did initially until I was sure FBL was for me on my 700N, as it meant I could easily return to the original settings quickly.

Also did you change the inner swash plate balls for the shorter ones? These will also effect the final pitch values at the head.

Ideally you need to keep the swash mix values above 50% while in DIR mode setting up, as per a normal eCCPM flybar setup. Then from here adjust up or down to change roll and flip rate controlled by the gyros.

Cheers Guys cos I've setup 3G before I skipped that part of the manual not giving a thought about moving the links in just went straight into 3G setup.
