Hi guys after 7 flights on my 600le with the mod i can now say tht it is great im not running excessive pitch of cyclic and there is no servo binding if you ever need to get out of trouble, there is no up and down free play on the main shaft. The heli never bogged down in my flights which included alieron and elevator nose up and down tic tocs, fast forward and backward hurricanes and reversing half piro flips. I flew the heli quite hard and safe and the mod has posed no problems to the flying.. JUST HAS THE BENIFIT OF NO BINDING ON THE SWASHPLATE!!!

    Cheers

After completing this mod and adjusting for more negative pitch ~ how much of the washout guide pins (from the head block) are still in the pin guides on the washout base…?

Isn’t there a real danger that the washout will become detached from the head block with too much negative pitch applied…?

        Cheers,

        Lee.

NO because you wont need lots of negative pitch!! The mod is really to stop the swashplate binding on the mast stopper!!

This whole thread is a little confusing now as there are comparisions between a standard fly-barred head and a FBL set-up on the same model.

If its FBL you can pretty much ignore binding..or lack of it due to the missing mixing arms. Also with a FBL system it will not travel your controls to the 'set up' figures in flight as the blades are now controlled by Gyro's the cyclics will only react as fast as the software allows which in reality is not going give you 12deg Cyclic.

If you fit a shorter mainshaft as per the 550E you are going to have to look elsewhere for the required travel. The 550 although very similiar and interchageable has subtle differences.

Moving to the 600 Fly-barred head its common to see the SF (upper) mixers heavily marked and also the mast collar/Swash. You can also get the swash tilting and hitting the top of the frames.

As pointed out it is possible the washout will drop below the pins..but this normally occurs when the servos are un-powered allowing the swash to drop.
Its prudent to check whilst its all powered up that you have adequate insertion of the washout pins (and during each pre-flight check) especially as there is aftermarket washouts with differing heights around and as each model is in reality individual there will be variations from one persons model to the next.

What else can be done? (Your selected headspeeds..low headspeed flying requires more travel on the controls for the same response. i.e. roll/climb/flip rates so increasing your headspeed may alleviate this in part.

Mechanically if you want more Pitch and Cyclic this is very easy to do. it also considerably reduces any binding and IMHO makes a 600 fly a little straighter. For 2 years I've been modding the upper SF levers but that is no longer required as the Align 550 utilises a metal SF lever that matches the moddified ones.

Note :- You must fit these into the inner hole on the fly-bar cradle (the short lever is the 550 Item)

            Happy Flying Guys
