  • 'Must have' Upgrades ???

Hello all - new to this part of the forum. I have finally caved in and sold my R*pt*r 50 and bought a T-Rex 600n.

Are there any 'must have' upgrades for this particular model??? I have just been reading threads about an align blade that disintegrated at the root destroying a new 700 and a 2 in1 regulator where the switch fell apart!!

I am fitting my own radio gear - GY611/9256, 9252's on collective, 811, AR9000, OS 50 Hyper and pipe etc.

Any advice very welcome - particularly about the stock align parts but also in general.

    in advance.

Which model did you get? I think apart from the plastic tail slider on the tail hub and the brass collet that goes with it, you are pretty much good to go. The only real upgrades are bling and don't add to the heli, in my opinion. If you got the sport make sure you pin both the plastic tail box and the boom in the front holder to stop them slipping. Don't fasten the bottom jesus bolt too tight, it distorts the one way. When you put the engine in, lightly tighten the engine mounts and then spin the engine with your starter whilst doing them up.

Ive learnt that "bling" does not help your flying (but i'm never partial to some !)

As Dave's mentioned.. Your really good to go, bar a few issues with the tail slider but that was more on the LE, but tbh, how many of the 600's are out there compared to the failures.. its just like the 2 in 1.. thousands and thousands out there and because of a handfull of failures (probably due to fuel/moisture/oil ingrese from lack of care) the item gets shot down... your porbably good to go, so enjoy it

Cheers guys - its a Sport.

        Sounds like good news!

Is there a thread about pinning the boom at each end anywhere or a link??

Never been a lover of bling - I have fitted upgraded bearings and blocks when they have worn out but prefer to spend my money on fuel and batts!!

        Thanks for the heads up.

Where the tail box sits on the boom find a ridge in the plastic and drill a 2mm hole right through, you won't hit the belt as long as it's in the middle and fit a 3mm cap head after tapping it or a 3mm self tapper. The front one comes with a 2mm hole pre-drilled and only requires setting up and then the screw putting in. There is already a spigot that keys in with the boom but the get chopped off sometimes.

I wouldn't say that, it depends on the bling, some things on some helicopters do improve them, eg metal swash vs plastic, metal head vs plastic, metal tail vs plastic.

If it reduces slop then its worth having, as it will make the heli capable of more precise flight, so will help your flying in that it will make the heli react with more precision to what you do and will mean you can do things like increase the headspeed, increase the gyro gain etc, but it wont make you a more able pilot.

If it's the sport then it will have plastic main blade grips. I would change them for the metal ones as i've seen footage of the plastic ones `letting go`

Just putting a metal elevator mount on mine as I have never liked the way the wires are so close to the aileron lever in the original position, I am also putting afew metal bits on to tart it up a bit, the best upgrade by far on my 600 has been the beastx and fbl head its a pleasure to fly now a real improvment.

All 600's come with a plastic fan, replace it with the metal version.

The best 'must have' upgrade you can get is improved flying ability which is achieved by spending your money on more fuel and flying the darn thing rather than worrying about upgrades that you don't even know if you need yet.

Got a hatori on one and Align on the other, not really found any difference between them. The hatori was a dissapointing upgrade - didn't make it noticably quieter.
