  • Swapping from an OS to a YS engine, do i need anything?

    Hi All,

On my Srimok, you had different starter shafts for os and ys engines, and i think the vibe had an additional washer for a YS engine.

With the Trex, aside from the engine and silencer, is there anything else i need to swap over?

(OS50 Hyper to YS56SR Incase it matter)

    Thanks

    Matt

Bump? The OS seems a little longer than the YS?

erm whoops what i meant to say is StreetDragster there shouldn't be a need for any other bits and pieces just switch over the fan and clutch assembly + engine mount ensuring good "alignment"

Yes Yes YS O Yes YS SO SO NO OS NO WoW! well they're alright i suppose ...

                So just to confirm

With the YS engine, despite being slightly longer, i use the same engine mount, clutch, washers and stack arrangement as the OS, and the clutch bell has enough clearance to take the clutch shoe, despite the engines slightly different sizes?

                Thanks

Id get yourself a fuel magnet aswell if your going YS
And you'll need a T-peice in your fuel line between the check valve and tank to release the tank pressure after a flight.

Just to close this thread off, the conversion has now been completed.

Going to a YS56 from an OS50 hyper is relatively straight forward, the physical bolt up arrangement is the same between the two engines.

The fan shroud needs trimming to clear the enormous carb on the YS56 compared to the OS50, not much, just the flange on the inside radius, near the carb.

I didn't bother with a t-piece or anything in the pressure line, i just seperated the pipe after the one way valve thing to vent the tank during fueling.

                    Thanks
