  • Pulsing sound from 600LE

Hi Guys, don't know if anyone can shed some light on a problem that's just started happening on my 600LE before I pull it all apart?

During the last flight, I could hear a regular pulsing sound which I don't think is coming from the engine as to me it sounds like it is more from the mechanics. When hovering, the tail will wag gently in time to the pulse. The heli seems to fly ok, no power shortage (well not that I can detect with my basic flying skills).

Any ideas, before it gets stripped?

hi please check for loose tail boom supports first in particular where the end is glued to the Tube.

      Hi Rachel,
I've had the tail boom supports coming loose at the body end, but they were freshly threadlocked back in place the day before the flight. I shall check again though, just in case.
      Thanks

This sounds to me like a low voltage protection setting on your ESC. What is it set at?

It's probably the clutch. If you are using the clutch that comes with the LE it bites very late.

I'll bet it's either the liner or the clutch itself.

I put the quick uk clutch on mine because of this problem.

You'll need to drop the engine out to check I'm afraid.

Probably would've been easier if it was the 600e

It is a later biter of a clutch but the revs seem stable once the clutch is engaged. Any other tell tales that will point out the clutch?
What I didn't try was running without the governor engaged to see what the revs were really doing.

Got to say that since moving my gyro from the gyro plate above the aileron servo's to the boom block my 600le has been much better.

Any vibe from a rich engine can play havoc with the gyro.

My gyro has been fine. This wah-wah sort of pulsing sound only started during it's last flight. The tail wag is not erratic like a gyro problem but very rhythmic and in sync with the wah-wah that I can here during the flight.
I've now checked the boom stays and they are all tight and secure. There is a small amount of play in the front gearbox which I need to look more closely at to establish where the slop is. Amazing....but it was 6 months ago when I built it, and it doesn't take long to forget what things were like when it was new.

Hi, have you had a look at the torque tube ?????

I just wondered if the center bearing has moved or worn out ??????

any chance of a video ??? That would help

                              Is the tail spinning freely?
Coz went i brough my 600le up the field we had to take the boom of for transport! And wen we put the boom on we didnt realise but we pushed the boom in so hard tht the bevel gear (in the plastic boom gearbox mount) got forced out of its bearings by bout 1mm wedging it into the other bevel gear which caused the tail to be a bit notchy and it made a hell of a racket wen it was spooling up!!!

Its worth a check coz its hard to notice!!
