  • CSM sl720 gyro on trex 600le

Does anyone run this gyro on a trex 600? I'm building a new 600le and i'm not sure if it's me, the le canopy or the zeal tape... but the cables will foul the canopy as there is only around 10mm clearance from gyro to canopy. The only way I can see round it is to cut away some of the canopy to give clearance.
Anybody else had to do this?

    Cheers

Take out the gyro mount and fit the 720 directly on the servos..

The second choice would be to mount the gyro on the back.. It's where there is the least amount of vibrations..

As a thought though, if you end up mounting the gyro directly onto the servos, use double padding, playe, thin pad then gyro.. Many people use the double sided Ripmax tape and it works a treat with the 720..

        Agree with Mo
Mount it at the rear it works better, just make sure you check the pads occasionally as oil from the exhaust will gradually seep into the mount and the glue will come off.
I recently checked mine and was surprised how easily it happens and didnt show immediately.
you dont want the gyro falling off for sure.

Cheers guys for all the answers!

It's either out the back or buy a Spartan. Might go down the spartan route and keep the CSM for a 2nd 700 coming in the new yr!

720 on both my 600Ns (al my helis in fact). They are at the front stuck directly to the servos on 2 thicknesses of ripmax double sided foam, then the CSM metal plate, then the gyro on thin double sided (like CSM supply for the plate to gyro).
Provided you arrange the wires to bend directly out of the plugs and route them carefully then they don't rub on the std canopy.

I had the gyro on the back, but got fed up of remounting it on every boom and tail gear change, and wanted more protected under the canopy. I also change the whole tail asmbly on my 600n sport for one with lights on and refitting the gyro would be a pain.

I would not go down that route personally as my Spartan was not as good as the 720.

You can actually get round this on a 600 by getting a piece of carbon plate or similiar and screw the plate onto the tail gear box with a couple self tappers. You thne mount the Gyro to the plate thus leaving your tapes untouched. If you want a strap as well just use a spacer to lift the plate to allow the strap to pass underneath.

                      Hope that helps Brian
