600 cyclic servo locations

Has anyone managed to mount 610s on the inside of the frames instead of on the outside? Reason I ask is because the wheels are protruding and binding against my Fusuno canopy. Was fine when I had 3152s in but the 610s must sit a tad more proud of the frame.

Cant you add rubber canopy mounts to push the canopy out?

I've got them, and have made plates to go with longer screws to push it out further, but now the canopy is visibly flexing a lot. Vibes would probs quickly destroy the canopy with that flex I'd imagine.

I recently had a 700 canopy that was right up against the main gear. I padded it out with rags on each side until I was happy with the shape and then applied heat with a heat gun. The next morning it was spot on...

I cant take the credit for this idea as I got from someone else on here, but cant remember who.

I second Pauls Idea.. I done the same as my new canopy was rubbing the gears! Even if you have a V2 shape

Thanks all, I keep I meaning to give this a go but I'm scared I'll harm the paint. Would be worth using star horns instead?

So I basically put rags between the servo wheels and canopy to get some clearance and "save" it to this shape using heat?

Yep doesn't have to be rags, anything that pushes the canopy out to the shape you need. You wont damage the paint. I got mine really hot to the touch and it didn't damage it at all.

How long should I heat it for? Just until it gets hot to the touch?

Thats what I did, whacked the heat on and then kept checking with my hand, when it started to get too hot to hold my finger on I stopped. You could feel it had gotten flexible at this point.

Cool, gave it a shot. Seems to be a bit better so far. Typically my Tx batt has just died from all the setup hours this week, so I can't check to see if the binding has been cured yet. Might take a few attempts, but I think I'll get there!
