  • trex600le clutch slip

Just maidened the new 600, all seems fine but I wonder about the clutch.

My NSP spins the head up quickly (ie the clutch bites quite soon on power up)

On the le I can get to half stick then have to wait for the head to catch up. The motor accelerates quickly to the expected speed but it takes another 7 - 8 seconds for the head to match the motor speed.

    Is this just newness ?

I would get to quite a bit of throttle before it even bite but would not take that long to get the headspeed up once it had started going.

Just built an LE for my mate Dermy and it does much the same but maybe 4 to 5 seconds.

      I wouldn't worry

Its a very common problem with the LE, seems 'they' beefed up the clutch for the LE model, but this adversely affected the shoes stiffness, and made the engagement later.
Fix is simple, Raptor 90 clutch liner (£8 for two), some 5 min epoxy and two wraps of electrical tape.

          Thanks

Yeah its a common problem with the LE. On mine i just put a new 600 liner in with a wrap of paper in the clutch bell first then epoxied the liner in. The epoxy soaks through the paper but it will give you the correct gap. i then wrapped one wrap of electrical tape round the clutch and pushed it into the bell while the epoxy was going off and that gave me a perfect gap. You will have to trim the Clutch liner a wee bit to make sure you get the perfect fit but it worked perfectly for me

            Hope this helps

Common prob on 600LE's but nothing to worry about.. You can get the ElyQ liner or custom adjust the liner with paper and expo between the liner and clutch bell... But I was lazy and brought a Lynx Innovations clutch and now a QuK one.. (The Quick Uk one is better) and they both eliminate the delayed snap and much more progressive!
