I must admit 0.03mm does not sound a lot

I always found Raptor shafts were very slightly undersized,i think the main shafts were about 9.96mm if i remember correctly and feathering shafts were 5.95 or there abouts

Anyway as Ash said, over to Ade..............

    give us some piccies

Ah, a proper engineer. I trust it is all imperial...

With a bearing (unless I'm going to start heating and cooling things), I would want a transitional fit. The tolerance on that goes into the clearance bracket but not much and products like Loctite 641 fill the gap (sorry for the pun) perfectly. I have a feeling that if the bearing was not square on the shaft by the 0.03mm refered to earlier then that slop would be taken up by the race itself.

That is unless one selected a perfect bearing for each location, and with this weekends weather that could be an option

Afraid not, I'm a metric child - I got it when started my apprenticeship in 1989.

It's the metric revision, but still has a load of imperial data in it.

yeah, the bearings debate is over, seems 0.03 gap is alright if I'm reading it right, so now we need another side issue to rattle on about
