As long as they improve the bearings over the standard ones supplied with the 450
Ditto with the 600
My mainshaft ones are grumblin' already.
Not a massive deal as no other issues with the heli. I'll replace them with non-Align items soon enough.

Glad to see Ade is flying a worthy heli at last,i think its a very good move,the models success is pretty much assured anyway
sorry chris i have to pick you up on that. the marketing and well established distribution guarentees its success.
we are yet to see how the 600n flies, bobs only had a few flies on his in less than ideal conditions so as yet its unproven. So the knight is still the best 50size heli i have ever flown and would have done me well at masters. Dont worry i will document the differences once i have had a reasonable amount of time on the 600n.

I know the 3d flies very well indeed and i have recently recommended one to Abdul which i see he has gone for and he loves it
What i meant was i never saw Knights as having a big market share against the Raptor and Evo maybe..
In think on the whole Align have done wonders in the short time they have been producing helis,i hear Charmouth was packed with 600E`s so everybody seems to be buying them which must count for something
Also i hear that in the USA the 600N has taken more pre orders than the total sales of the 600E in the year its been out,if this is correct then that models success is assured
I feel that you have done well for yourself in attaining sponsorship for the 600N and i hope you find that you have backed the right horse so to speak
I feel that most of us mere mortal fliers will have a tough time picking out the differences between the 600N and the 3d,the Knights fly a whole lot better than Raptors for instance and i can clearly see the difference comparing them but between the 3d and the 600N it may not be so easy
Either way,i am very much looking forward to getting mine and i am sure whatever you fly you will do well at the masters

The bearings certainly aren't and the tolerances on both the main shaft and feathering spindles are none too clever either, Trev's F/S has a diameter of 7.97mm (correct me if I forgot the exact number Trev). You stick that in an 8mm bearing and you get knackered bearings soon enough. Same problem on the mainshafts.
You get what you pay for, the Align heli's are cheap, as are Knights. So we shouldn't expect fantastic machining tolerances. If you want that buy a JR heli.
I should also add that the one way bearing is totally unsupported on the 600E & 600N, which means it gets a harder time than it should, although mine's lasted pretty well, Trev's is knackered.
sorry Trev wasn't picking on your heli particularly. Just pointing out that quality is a word that gets thrown around far too easily.
Despite all of this (the 600E) is still the best flying 50 I've ever owned and that one thing allows me to turn a blind eye to the odd machining tolerance issues.
Thats .03mm clearance which equates to .0012" or a thou & 2 tenths of a thou or in laymans terms 4 times smaller than the size of a human hair, as an engineer I have to ask what is wrong with that as it seems about perfect to me?
Unfortunately if you require super acurate machining you realy should be paying 3 times as much for the kit so I guess it's all relevent.
You also have to understand a bit about mass production runs & quality controll of such. This is why the chineese havent yet broken into our side of the market which is aerospace they are going to tho some day.
These feathering spindles are being turned on very cheep cnc lathes.
The tollerances your asking for Ash are grinding limits not turning limits.

sticking my perfectionist hat on......if the bearing is designed to run on an 8mm shaft then that is what you should put it on. Anything else and the bearing will be able to rock on the shaft and blade grip bearings have pretty huge forces on them. That movement will cause flex in the race and the balls to run out of true. Knowing the bearings aren't great in the first place you now have two reasons for the bearings to wear faster than they should.
Bearing loctite just means you glue it on at whatever angle the loctite sets at, which isn't ideal either.
As I said I'm not bothered about it, of far more significance is the fact that the one way bearing is unsupported. As it happens I'm not bothered about that either, they're cheap to replace.
However, in the interests of not doing a thread hijack has Ade finished this thing yet or what?

If you were to make it 8mm to 8mm you would need to force it onto the feathering spindle if it was even slightly out of square it would bind up & you would need to hammer it on the shaft. Then when you came to take it apart I'm willing to bet it would be seized to the shaft.
