New 700n servo advise

Hi there

When I built my 700LE last year I just used the DS610's it came with and havnt have any problems untill recently they have developed quite abit of backlash....especailly the elevator servo....

Im after some feedback from people who have or do use differant servos.......should I just get some more DS610's or get some gears or buy some new servos.....are other brands less suseptable to developing backlash.

I have recently started flying the 700 quite hard and im currently running the DS610's direct off a 2S LiFe pack...

Are you noticing problems in flight mate?
Prety much all metal geared servos will develop slop
in time yes even the expensive ones.
The align gearsets are quite expensive but would sort
the problem but only for a little while till they wear out again.

They seem pretty good value for money to me.
I do have some JR 8915s which are great but they cost the same as the whole cyclic of 610s and a bit more each!
If you get a good year or 2 out of the 610s then replace them or the gear sets I would have thought would be better value. Still I do have a brand new 8915 still in its pack if you want to try it. Yours for £90!!

I was thinking of doing that.......I kinda assume the backlash can only be in the gears....and not the case..?

If you do decide to buy new, you might want to look at the savox 1258s. Savox make aligns, but these ones are faster and have more torque than 610s.

you can try to simply disassemble the gearbox and put them back in again.
It shuffles the teeth, and often reduces backlash. For a while.

Had a look at the specs and at 6V it is the same as the 610s.
They cost a little more too.

My BLS451s seem to be lasting well in terms of backlash, and I've recently stated to run them direct of the 2S lipo, as futaba now seem to say that OK.
However until I did this they were noticably slower than my 610's on my other heli running 6v.

well, they do develop play rather soon. I think this has been observed by many owners.
If yours don't, good for you. Maybe you should crash them more

Performance-wise, I don't see any difference to the Align 610.
I've had one 610 failure, I've had one 8915 failure. The latter one was more expensive.

But this is simply my opinion, I haven't made any systematic comparison. I'd probably use DS 610 for any new heli except .90 flybarless.
