  • New Compass FBL heads for Align 600 heli's

    Hi guys,

good news for some aftermarket FBL head for your 600 E or N. Compass is going to produce their new FBL heads for the Align 600 series. The heads will come available under the name TracX and are the same as the new FBL heads used on the Compass heli's.

The new TracX FBL head doesn't use a swashdriver anymore. There's a delrin rod which comes down from the main blade grips directly to the swashplate ! These heads are tested and proven on the new Compass heli's and work flawless !

The heads will be available in some weeks time and soon there will be a similar head for the TREX 500 series. Here are some of the first pics of the new head.

              hmm...

Im not sure, obviously havnt seen this in action so i cant say for sure. But its not going to take much flex in those arms to give some phase changes that are sure to confuse the fbl system.

We have a fbl atom 550 at our club an it handled everything a 3D pilot chucked at it.

I must admit to not actually touching the links to see how they felt but they look more than up to te job.

Perhaps Sav will come on here and say?

I'm running two of them and as far as I can tell there are no issues with phasing at all. The Knights have a phasing ring as standard and that itself has caused me an issue in the past. The ring slipped round 15 degrees and I ended up doing my first forced auto straight down as every stick input moved the heli in the wrong direction.

I'm no expert (Just started doing Tick Tocs) but the thing flys like it's on rails with this head and the beasty and that really inspires confidence.

As Ben says those arm are way too beefy to flex, the whole system is very rigid and there is hardly any movement, plus the links are held on the main grips buy two large 2mm bolts and once tight there is no chance of it going anywhere apart from up and down motion.

that said, the ball links my arms have are much beefier than the links on the pics and all the pics i have seen, my beefier links rub on the swash, i was scared they will pop out but they didn't, but why do i have different links than all pics i have seen i have no idea (plus the part no on the manual is for standard ball links which are provide in the kit as spares but the links on the arms are different not the same plus have no part number mentioned anywhere), plus mine is a very latest kit. when i say they rub on swash i mean they rub at all stages even with out any cyclic movement and just standing still. i dont know if this is a problem, to be on the safer side i installer longer balls on the swash and all i now good. though the links on the pics should not have this problem as they are a lot thinner but

as for crash resistance i am not sure yet but i dont thing it will end well almost every crash is probably new main grips and arms since the force is going to go straight on to the main grips unless of-course the links pop off, is that why it rubs to be on the edge all the time ???

                    Dirk,

those black orings on the pics what are they for were do they go, i have two spare in the kit but my head came assembled and apart from loctiting the head bolts i dint bother to take it apart. what are they for and where dot they go? thanks for your help mate.

Dirk apparently seems to be the only guy i get some answers of for Compass lack of information in the manual and general support.

The black rings are the head dampers. They go round a solid damper centre.
