700E my first impression

I did a test flight today on a 700E with Edge 690 blades, everything else was from the Combo kit.
All over all, it's a very nice heli, if maybe a bit heavy.

The flight time was about 8 minutes, which is very good for an electric.
What I didn't like at all was the 3G unit. The elevator gain was very low to prevent elevator wobble. It still has a tendency to do that in abrupt stops, but now the gain is so low that it doesn't hold a straight line in fast forwards flight.

I had flown my a 700N FB immediately before, and IMO, the stock 700E flybarless flies much better than a 700N with flybar. But that said, the Align flybarless unit was a bit of a disappointment to me, since I'm used to my own 700 on V-Bar.

Anyone else got any reports on these,the urge to buy one is almost killing me especially seeing the deals century rc are doing.They sell the fbl combo complete but minus the 3g electronics which i dont want for £300 cheaper than any Uk price.

I know its maybe a bit heavy but it looks so cool and i know it would be friends with my 550E.

I hear the motor is pretty good,the 550 one sure is,i know the servos are good.

I would use either a Beast X or V5 V Bar for fbl stabilisation and a Jive 80HV Rev 9.

actually I'm tempted to do the same.
Maybe one comment, I don't like the color scheme of the canopy. There is not enough contrast for the black "windscreen" to show in bad light. Personally, I'd pay £60 more to get a white stock 700 N canopy, assuming it fits.

And, I'd use slightly shorter servo horns than Align recommends.

I think they do different scheme canopies now for it,i personally like the canopy supplied,its similar to the 550 one which i like although the quality of them seems a bit worse than the older designs.

I would not use the metal horns as i value my servos so would use plastic Futaba horns with balls at a suitable distance for geometry on whichever system i use.

I see the bellcranks have second holes drilled further in for FBL,i assume this has helped solve some of the issue the 600 and 700N has.

I know on the v bar the balls need to be further in,the Beast x i think isnt so fussy as far as getting the blue light goes.

No its different, and not interchangeable. That said any canopy can be made to fit with enough effort.

in the heli that I flew, they were in the inner position (more servo movement, less blade movement). But still, I twisted the blade grips, and the servos didn't feel as stiff as they should.

I am now getting use to my 700e but i have the flaybared version as i prefer them over the fbl, prefer to have total control myself, but saying that have only ever flew the 3g system.
I really like mine, it is a bit heavy in the air if you run a head speed similar to a nitro, but turn up that head speed, get it singing and it is mental, loads of power.
You do feel the weight a bit going in to manovers that my nitro would go into with less correction but you can correct very easy as the power is there to do it.
Do i prefer it over the nitro, yes and no.
Love the extra power, you can go nuts and it will take it, but i love how the nitro is easier to flow through stuff, looks neater.
It is nice to have both though, don't need for another heli

Have gone for one from Century RC will have the stock Align motor and servos but a Jive 80HV and V Bar V5 installed.

I love the V Bar 700N so this should be good as well hopefully,maybe even faster than my Logo 600
