  • Trex 600 head mod

    Hi guys,

i have been helping Trev get the best from his trex 600. one of the things i suggested was to modify the mixer ratios with this modification.

You move the ball on the upper mixer arms towards the pivot point. This increases input from the swashplate with only a small increase to flybar input this effectively lower the ratio.

the result is a more locked in feel in FFF, crisper and faster cyclics

    Hope this helps.

I thought the T-rex head had this already, when I checked my T-rex head I noticed that the locations are on the output side, The Kasama head for the Raptor has this adjustment on both the input and the output so you can set them up differently to suit your flying style.

I hope Align make this a standard in the future...............anyone asked them?

Actually I really don't know how they compare, because Ade was keen to remind me that the 3D was also a good heli. I did ask, but no definite opinion from him.

One thing is for sure it hasn't been an "out of the box" success . The Nitro has needed some modding to get it how he wants it.

However there's no gettign away from the fact the Nitro looks as good in the flesh as it did in the vids in the right hands.

I am sure Ade will come up witha verdict sooner or later, but I'd be just as interested in your opinion Chris.

When i get mine flying and got settled in with it i will let you know what i really think

Personally as you know i think the 600E is stunning, how much of this is the electric influence or not remains to be seen but what i can say for sure is that my 600 flies better than my Sports from my point of view

The 3d may be a bit more difficult to judge and as i do not own a 3d i will never be able to give an honest comparison,i did fly Ades one and thought it was brilliant but i dont really want to do a repeat performance

Having a go on someone elses model that may not be set up for your tastes makes it a pointless excercise trying to compare

What i do know is that i am 100% commited to the Align brand and i will do whatever it takes to make my 600N fly like its electric counterparts and i am pretty sure that it will not be hard

sounds like your angling for a sponsorship deal chris :-)

its true the 600n hasnt flown the way i like it from the get go but neither did the knight 50 pro when i first got it. It takes time to get to know the model and which bits require special attention.

it was flying very nicely last night.

i have been a bit non comital on how its flying compared to the knight simply because i havnt had the stick time on the 600 to really get a good feel for it. I have only had one proper flight on it in less than ideal conditions so its still early days.

Sponsorship from Align will never happen for me and to be honest i am not interested in competing etc which would of course go with it..

I am a very loyal customer of theirs though for the simple reason that i like what they have to offer at this moment in time

I agree with your views of having to get the model just right, all i know is that my 600E flies perfectly from my point of view,i am totally comfortable with it and the way it responds and i am hoping the Nitro will behave in a similar fashion..

I will never be able to find differences between the 3d and a 600N simply because i am not good enough to push either to anywhere near its limits,it all boils down to personal taste.

Both the 600N and the Knight 3d are very good helicopters

Just come back from flying my 600e. I tried the head mod that Ade suggested however I found it quite unstable in forward flight but gave good cyclic responses. So I went in between these two holes. To do this you have to flip the upper mixing arm over and attach the balls from the other side. Put three flights on it and it does make a difference.

                              Cheers Matt
