Torque tube rear gear mesh.

Is there any way to set the mesh between the rear umbrella gears on the torque tube on my 600 ?

It appears to be fixed but when I nip up the bolts holding the side plate with the tail shaft bearing I can feel a tight spot that will doubtless cause a vibration. With the three screws just loose it feels fine but I can't fly it like that.

any tips welcomed..

No, there is no way to set it.

Could be a problem with the replacement part.

Check the plastic gears for flashing.

There might be some rough spots on on the smooth part of the TT where it hasnt been cleaned up properly after the injection mould.

if all else fails Try turning one of the rear bevel gears by 1/4 turn and see if that loosens them up at all.could be a high spot on the teeth.

Pretty much what I thought..

I have stipped the tail down, removed and re-seated the gears in their bearings and removed all the thread lock residue and it seems much better. Not 100% perfect but an improvement at least.

I did check for flashing and also rotated one of the gears round by 90deg...

anyway need it to stop raining now to see if it flys OK now.

I found the one on my 700 to be a bit notchy too. However, on closer inspection, it turned out that the gear was not pushed right into the bearings.

Following a bit of a shove it seated OK and the notchyness disappeared.

You can actually adjust the mesh in that area although its never really 100% needed, usually high spots will be worn in after a couple of flights so i would get it flown then assess it again.

You should find there is 1 or 2mm movement in the tail case , i mean that the umbrella gear with the 2 bearings can slide in and out slightly, yo can threadlock the bearings into the tail case and set the mesh that way, if you ever need to adjust it more than that, a sliver removed from the back of the sleeve that sit between the bearings will allow more room to move it around to get good mesh.
Should only really be needed in extreme circumstance, and MUCH care taken when removing material! don't ask how i know
