If I had a faultly main gear/ tail gear, would it cause the tail to move anti clockwise? It moved in small jumps and now there is some theeth missing.

In the LE kit, what version of the main gear / tail drive gear does it come with, and what should I replace it with? in the manual it says, 164T and 150T

If you heard a bang, then something broke, check the linkage on the tail to make sure it is all complete, free moving and undamaged. check the tail servo it may have packed up, arm broke?. Check the whole heli over mechanically and satisfy yourself it is all ok. then go through a complete test of all the electronics.
Until you find the issue this is an accident waiting to happen.

I agree, I just cant find anything wrong. The only thing I have not checked is the servo, so I will have that out tonight.

There must be something incorrect, that was causing the tail drift.

you havent put any trim on the tail in the transmitter have you, this can make it drift cuz it messes th sensing up

what radio are you using dx7 ?? what rates are you using for your gyro i take it its a gp780 ?? and you have a ds650 tail servo ?? i have not redrilled the carbon boom on my 3g 700 but it still flys stright and true if you were to give us an idea on the things above and perhaps some pics of the heli in close up perhaps we may be able to help a bit more

There is no trim or sub trim (tripple checked!)

                Using a dx7

                gp750 + ds650

cant remember the rates, but should be ok, as set up based on the same setup on my 600

Photos are a good idea, will get some tonight.

Its not a smooth drift, it just jumps 1-2" at a time, tried with differnet gyro, so its not that.

Sorry have readthe thread, but id hover the heli side on without a canopy and get someone to see if it the servo is moving the tail or its something mechanical.

                  Maybe a bearing of somewhere.

i had a problem with the arms on the tail being too tight and had to replace with different bolts and washers this could lead to jumping of the tail i also have had a gp 750 that likes to step out like you have explained it used to do it on me only within the first 30 seconds of flight then would stop but was very disconcerting as i could have happened at any time hence i changed to a gp 780 and it stopped (i have one for sale if you want it LOL) my setup for the tail on my dx7 is around 70% but my 550 is only 63 % it really depends on the heli i would set it up to 80% to ensure wag and then drop a few points till the wag goes
also do you have your tail linkages all at 90 degs ??
                    look forward to the pics

At the moment the heli is in bits, need to order the parts.

Yes all my linkages are at 90 degs.

I am starting to wonder if it is the servo, but why would that only drift while the heli is in the air?

I would say that it takes about 3-4 seconds for the heli to drift from tail in to side on.

Thanks for all the suggestions, it good to get pointers to check things again

Its a brand new heli! Maybe I should strip it down and check them all tho. Thing is when I move the tail buy hand its smooth as silk

Here are a couple of videos, as i thought showing the movement would be better than static photos.

The heli is still in bits, so there are 2 videos, one for the heli and one for the tail.

Turn the govenor off - I can see you've got the Align Gov on there. - Reduce the govenor channel to zero (probably chan 7) and fly without it.

Just found today that when the Gov is on my 600 tail drifts and kicks.

I've now set my throttle curves up so don't really need the gov anymore and now it's silky smooth, no creaping.

thinking about it, the gp780 has 2 settings for small electric and large models, its not on the small electric setting is it?

I will triple check but am 99.9% sure its set for big helis

will try without gov next time, but that would not explain the sudden loss of tail that caused the crash
