I dont think thats even possible on a 2 stroke not while its running anywa. If you tried reversing the direction that forcefully i think you wouldn't have much engine left I do stand to be corrected on this one...anyone?

btw yes it can start up backwards.

Er just thought of something that happened to me.

Engine running backwards due to a back fire.

I think you are suffering something like this - maybe because the govenor is getting the wrong signals - but i'll bet it is and is causing a backfire and reversed engine.

Results in high RPM with no drive.

Its very possible - Add a turn to you mixture and run really rich.

Bang open the throttle and see what happens.

Hard to understand how the govenor manages to get enough fuel into the engine such that it 'misses a stroke' but the problem fits the symptoms.

Has the throttle range been set on the govenor ?

would love to know if it's on the wrong channel.

I was going to say either clutch problem, ie 100% throttle and no drive to blades. Or engine running backwards. I had it a while ago, and was told I wouldn't see it again. Had it again this weekend!! Runs at almost full throttle but coughs a lot and no/very little drive to the blades/ blades go wrong way slowly!
