  • T-Rex 700 weird one-way bearing failure

My one-way bearing turned into a two-way bearing

The inner shaft is polished smooth as a mirror. I'm not sure, whether the stains are corrosion from nitro fuel, or if it has gotten some local heat treatment when it slipped under load.

I'll try to roughen the surface with sandpaper. The bearing itself was clean and all the little latches move smoothly.

The mystery is resolved. It had nothing to do with the bearing.
There are six loose screws hiding in the picture. Can you spot them all?

      Hey.

Had all the screws come out then? If so I'd not heard of that before now, maybe one or two but not all.

        Hi Ian

Screws don't have to come out just a little loose for it to slip, still should never come loose if loctited in place.

        Cheers

yes, I don't really understand this. There was plenty of loctite inside, but if I remember correctly, it came pre-assembled.

The screws were out by maybe a quarter turn each.

            Hey Bob.

Ah, so your saying if the auto unit screws are not nipped up the one way can slip on the main shaft? I've not seen any come loose to know what would happen, I'd just assume the gear assembly would wobble a bit but the one way would still function correctly.

              Hi

The top and bottom case has a clamping action on the outer steel cage so if the screws come loose no clamping action so it will slip, Synergy uses basically same design and is overal a very straight forward simple good design.

              Cheers
