  • My turn I suppose :D

Well there I was flying around quite the thing on Sunday afternoon at Kinross and finally got the wherewithall to try looping, rolling, flipping and stall turning the 700 and I had put a couple of tanks through her when this happened!

Thing is I was just coming out of a mild stall turn everything undercontrol and the tail went. It started spinning rapidly anti-clockwise so I reckon something gave. All I could do was hit throttle hold and wait and see how bad.

What annoyed me most was I was having so much fun with her in the wind I'm not even upset! At least I was having fun with her when it happend. Its all part of flying heli's I can't understand people crying about it as its not if they go in it's usually when

Don't fly if you cant afford to crash is how I see it

I reckon I've been lucky, it's all tail damage on the boom and 1 of the servo's is seized and main blades obviously. Canopy is still mint

I still think I've been lucky, only 3rd big crash in 2 years More to come I suspect.

I think about £200 to £300 including blades and servo etc. so all in not to bad.

So as a result I went and gave my T-Rex 600n a good thrashing (well at least as good as I can at the moment )

So how long before someone blames it on Align and poor quality metal/carbon/plastic or the small child that packed it? As opposed to just plain bad luck etc?

I have a couple of prior financial commitments to sort first but it wont be long before she's back in the air Can't wait!

All in all still had a blast this weekend

I think it might be the tail shaft that might have snapped

Now that would have been funny!

However this time the shaft looks like it took most of the impact on it and it just bent!

        Score 1 for the cheeseium!

ooh- not good At least you were having fun That is not too bad a crash in reality- don't know about you, but I was impressed at how robust the frame is and the protection it gives to the expensive bits.

I put my 700 in the ground this week too- I was flying in a new field which is big, sent it too far away and totally lost orientation and ended up dumping it. Crash cost was about £230 for me, but that went up to £300 including the new canopy- my excuse is that I could not see the original :P

Hope you get rebuilt and flying again soon- mine is nearly ready to go again.

Unusual to need a whole new tailbox James.

You can buy the shaft, tail pitch lever and its mount all seperately it thats what you need.

Also you can pick up a complete Trex 700 Airframe in running order around £250 giving you loads more parts for spares?

Do you need a whole new servo or just a gear set for it?

Not sure yet. Not had chance to strip it. Trouble is it took a few minutes to get to the heli after the 'landing' so the worry is that the servo motor could be a bit suspect if it was sitting there trying to turn with knackered gears.

I'm inclined to buy a new servo anyway and keep the old one for gears/case etc.

                      Piece of mind is priceless
