Titanium wouldnt be as good for a tail shaft as a good steel anyway. Its not as hard, alot springier and alot more expensive. Alot harder to machine too.

I would love to see an ElyQ tailhub machining being compared to an Align's....The Aligns would look like a kasama in comparison .

Companies such as kasama are real engineers from the start, and fully understand what is required for the job - Align appear to make things just about flyable to save on costs. But thats what you pay for. I would have a fleet of kasama's if only I could afford it!

Some manufactures cast the parts and finish/polish them.

This is 20% of the cost of machining. This is also where problems with tolerances / imperfections can occur.

Unless things were significantly different over there I would be amased if any shafts are cast. The aluminium parts maybe, but not the shafts. Bar stock would be far cheaper, then just turn the one end.

i had an align, it was a big mistake and i sold it
and i fly the turbulence harder than the 700 before anyone say's i'll be scared of crashing it
if/when it crashes i'll rebuild it

So a member of our forum goes out his way to check the quality of a product that is known to be questionable and that's your response.. erm nice one buddy...

Anyway I'm glad that we know the material isn't good quality and It's nice to know that people are concerned about this. We'd all be taking this a bit more seriously if the tail decided to blow out and happened to hit some one and this problem gives that potential. Titanium is a very strong material but brittle. In unalloyed condition, titanium is 45% lighter, and as strong as steel. We can presume that the same shaft of steel will be 5% stronger than titanium, but titanium will be 40% lighter. Therefore.. we could just use a High Quality steel. Oh and and Titanium is far more expensive.

But yes your right - a half reasonable steel would be far better.
