Don't know if Align has improved their screws, the the frame bolts were a much better fit on my hex drivers,
    Cheers,

I have been studying the Align literature on their website and I can see a major problem brewing with this model. Align state it has a unique fixed third bearing block. Unfortunately this will mean there is no motor adjustment for gear mesh which also probably means you will not be able to use a different pinion. Now using one of the headspeed calculators shows that in its current setup un-governed you will be looking at an average headspeed of something around 2200. It will be higher than this when the pack is just off the charger, something approaching 2400rpm. That looks pretty high for a 90.

If that's the case, can't you just reduce the overall power thru via your throttle curves,or is that just too simplistic???
Being thinking about either getting this for 12s and Z power 800 or converting my existing nitro with a conversion kit-similar to my Raptor 620se, which uses a slotted motor mount that would allow for pinion adjustment..

If the ESC has a good governor then yes you can set the throttle curve lower to reduce the headspeed. I don't fully know how it works yet but there will be a point where the curve is too low for either the motor or the ESC to work properly. At this point the pinion size needs reducing.

KDE do a slotted motor mount for it.

Not sure I see a problem unless you are not using Aligns motor or pinion set up. Seem to be a few flying now on the standard equipment with no problems, but will come back if I encounter some. I've never achieved exactly what a head speed calculator has predicted, always seems to come in a bit lower, so hopefully should be spot on. Not sure if I'm going with the governor on my HV110 or fixed end points, not read that far yet !!

Some more pics. I hate wiring helis, at least with nitro its just the electronics, with this bugger its the power plant as well.

Perhaps we could look at this from another perspective. Consider the 450, you can experiment. You can run with a low headspeed whilst you gain confidence and then switch to a larger pinion to increase the headspeed.

It appears to me that Align have rushed the 700e to market and did not give full consideration to the pilots who want to try different setups. Okay you can purchase a third party part but that kind of confirms a deficiency with the standard kit.

On the KDE part I cannot see how the "unique fixed 3rd bearing" can be used so that will have to be removed I presume?

EDIT: The KDE takes care of the lower bearing block as well.

                      Does look nice Simon

What C rating are them packs you are using?

Have to let me know how you find them in flight and what times you get and also how warm they come off if you dont mind please

Running 30c Tipples, should be fine. I bet my 6s 600esp pulls more amps with less capacity. Not sure when the maiden will be but will post back how warm everything is at the end of the flight.
