  • Tt pro-90h(r)?

    Hi Guys

Was just wondering what your opinions were on the Thunder Tiger Pro-90H(R) engine?

Whilst I have an Align 50H on my 600, I've read one or two comments on the TT53 engine (generally positive) and wondered if the same was true for the TT90? Is it a decent engine for the 700? Is it reliable? Are the spares prices reasonable and are the parts available?

Toying with putting one on my 700LE you see.

    Your thoughts?

It is an old design engine Martin, and so won't have the power of the lastest ones, but i don't know of anyone that uses one

The TT 90 engine is very old...it has just something about 2,5bhp...modern egniens have something about 3,3-3,4bhp.

There were rumors that TT will bring out a new engine for the 90...but nothing came until now.

But if you just want to do some easy flying of course you could use this engine.
If you are going into 3D or something liek that...i would use a modern engine like the 0s 91 hz or ys 91.

      best regards

        stick a ys91sr on it martin,there a fantastic engine!
My experience with TT engines is they are great when on song but getting to that point is hard work and keeping them tuned is even harder

If it produces 2.5 horsepower it will carry the 700 along very well. Obviously not as much of a rocket as you'd expect from a modern .91 but 2.5 hp is enough to get the heli around quite confidently and plenty for anything short of 3D where you need all the grunt.

My Robbe Futura is heavier than a 700 (at least I think it probably is) and it has an OS70 in it now, which is supposed to put out 2.5 hp and it flies very well indeed and I don't find myself wishing for more power (but I'm not doing 3D)

If you are looking for a lower cost alternative to a 90 then the OS70 works very well in the 700. The model is very capable with the OS70. Inwoods have it for £209.

Paul had a TT90 in his TZ90, did you ever see it fly (well haul itself into the air to be honest as sooooooooo underpowered)? That was the reason it was sold on after a couple of weeks and replaced with the 700LE with an OS. Buy once and buy right and go with the OS...
