  • Scorpion In a 600 on 12S

    Hi All

Anyone know if Scorpion Motors run hot when using them in the 600E 12S configuration?

I've just put together a rig using 2 x 3000mAh bty's a Jive 80HV and a Scorpion 4025-630 motor, however after only a couple of minutes test hovering I found the Bty's & ESC were cold but the motor seemed really hot!

Now I don't know the history of this motor and havent yet got the oil these things need so I'm not going to push my luck incase it just needs Lube!

I normally use Kontronik motors in the big heli so used to them being pretty cool, is the Scorpion known as a "Hot Runner"?

    Thanks

    John

I think thats pretty normal. I ran the 4035 560 on 12s in a 600 and it got hot, too hot to touch for more than a few seconds. It does the same on my 90E.

Well I guess that's a good indication, I just get nervous when things are hot after a flight usually means something is wrong!

      Thanks for the quick reply

Scorpion motors will get warm/hot in use, particularly if being pushed hard but if its getting that hot then you might want to look at adjusting the ESC timings; if incorrect this can cause an increase in temps.

Thanks for that, I was only test hovering so that would cause the motor to work harder with less airflow than experienced during fff.

Got to try to get the tail to stop wagging before I can do much forward flight but that's another issue!

          Cheers
