  • What electrics/engine?

Well, you knew it had to come eh? It's that dreaded "What shall I fit into my 700LE?" thread that I warned you of.

Thus far I'm planning to fit:

    Cyclics: DS610s
    Tail: DS650
    Gyro: Spartan Quark
    Voltage Reg: Align 2-in-1 RCE-B6T
    Governor: Align RCE-6600
    Receiver: AR7000 (or similar)

    Does the above make sense?
I have no clues as to what engine and muffler to install and would appreciate your advice.

I don't wanna spend and arm and a leg and would even consider saving money where I can.

    Thanks in advance.

    Martin

Most of the Aligns, fair few Spektrum bits, bunch of Align & HiTec servos, OBE, VD & Bar.

That setup looks good to me -basically the same as a 700LE except for the gyro isn't it?

I guess if you're conscious of the cost then the Align 91H is a slightly cheaper than the YS competition. I've got an Align pipe on my OS91HZ-R and it does the job nicely although it's the only 90 pipe I've ever had so can't make comparisons to others -certainly a fair bit cheaper than the Hatoris.

Martin, why not push the boat out and get non Align electrics, I thought that was your aim in buying the kit only of you could have just bought the combo or do you plan on getting second hand items?

I think that is the best set up for the money you will get.

That set up will serve you well, simples.

You could prob save a few quid on the gyro but its not worth mentioning really.

As for Engine the most economic choice would be the Align engine and muffler combo which as we all know the engine is the OS rebadged so you will not have any probs with them.

I have an OS91 SX with pump, it looks very cool I got it as a possible spare but realistically I should probably sell it. It is 2nd hand but in excellent shape and much much cheaper than a new 91HZ. (and you can use the money you save to buy fuel... or whatever)

Lots of people use the Align servos because they are relatively inexpensive for the speed / torque but with a 120 degree ccpm setup you actually don't need quite that much torque (or speed for that matter) unless you want to do that jittering thing some of the 3D guys do.

JR, Hitec, Futaba and a few others all make servos that will do the job extremely well. (some of the JR's are amazing)

Some of those TT Ace servos look quite good as well.

            Yeah, it pretty much is.

In truth my main aim is to allow me to acquire the bits as and when I can afford them. And yes, I will consider second hand too.

I'll take a peek at the Align engine. I have one in my 600 and other when I leaned it out too much and buggered the piston, it's been fine.

Well holler if, as and when you decide to sell and I'll give the matter some thought.

            Thanks for the input guys!

I'll get some pics of it. I bought it last year from a forum member and just put some after-run in it and had it sitting on the shelf. I have one exactly like it in a Raptor 90 airframe.

Since then I ended up with a YS91 in a spare Robbe airframe and an OS61, either one of which I could fit into the Raptor if I wanted, but most likely I'll never need to change it anyway.

                YS91 SRS
Hatori SB-19 (if that one matches the new YS)

Would prob use a BLS251 on the tail.

                        I know

...but I would rather save a bit extra and wait.

Its not like Martin hasn't got anything else to fly in the meantime

The SR may even come down in price if the SRS is out now?

And i'd say also go for :

                          Cyclics: BLS 451 Servo's

                          Tail: As above BLS 251

Gyro: Spartan Quark great gyro with the 251 servo just fitted this set up on my T500

Voltage Reg: Align 2-in-1 RCE-B6T or a Scott gray X Reg

Governor: Align RCE-6600 or CSM Revlock 10

If you can hold out and pay the extra i think this would but a really good set up for you.

Why not go pumped? (assuming for a moment that a pumped engine was available much cheaper than a new non-pumped one)

the os pumps fail very often
all the pumped os motor's i've had the pumps failed
i fitted the non-pumped carb onto the last one, now its an expensive engine
