  • Rubber grommets on Servos

    Evening all..

Yep.. I got another dreaded noob question.

During my 600LE build, I didnt refer to the "Finless Bible" on certain things I've done before, so didnt watch all the Vids on the 600 build!

Recently, I've came across posts about using the rubber grommets between the servo plates?... Guess what, I didnt fit them, as the instruction manual does not indicate it!!

I've been searching for them in a my spares bag but I just remembered I chucked them away last month!! argh!!!

Now, do I really need them?.. If so where can I get replacements? As I've looked on AVA, Fastlads, MH, Simply-trex and other usuall sites but I cant find any, the only ones I find are the Futaba/JR ones?

I think you'll find the futaba ones will fit. They are there to stop the shock loading of the servo. I must admit I don't think they achieve that really.

I think they will help disperse the vibrations of a nitro heli away from the servo to stop premature damage aswell!

Cool.. I'll get the futaba ones. Also, will I have to get the gold sleeves and the silver screws aswell? Or will I be able to sandwich them? I only ask because of the othe thing I read?

The gold sleeves are bushes that stop you from crushing the rubber. You don't necessarily need the original screws, as long as what your using fit in the bush okay and screw into the frame it'll be fine. Have you fitted the servos straight to the frame then without anything, post a pic and let me have a look.

            Hi

A nitro/glow models engine vibrations will kill the servo so you do need the rubber grommets, you can get away with out the brass sleeves as long as you use common sense and don't crush the rubbers down so hard they can't work.
Generally you don't bother fitting the rubber grommets to electric models as high frequency vibs are lower on these models.

            Cheers

Hmmm... I've always assembled mine without the gold bushes -is that a bad idea?

EDIT: Bob just answered my question above while I was typing it!

I've fitted the servo flush with the frame.. carbon plate on top of servo and black screw through hole and screwed into backing plate. I wondered why the carbon plate didnt sit well!!.. Damn Align manual.. at least I didnt overlook reversing the bottom shaft bearing block!!

Never posted a photo on here so hope this works!.. Macro wont work in the living room light i've got.. So i'll have to take another photo tomorrow if you cant make it out mate.
