Main Shaft bearings???!!

So, one of the main shaft bearings on my 700 is a bit notchy. Got some replacement bearings from rc-bearings.co.uk and managed to tap the old ones out. However, I cannot for the life of me get the new ones in to the metal bearing holders. I have even put the bearing holders in the oven at 100 C for 15 minutes and the bearings in the freezer in a ziploc bag and still can't press them in

Anyone got any ideas how I can get the damn things in!!

Put some 'Soft jaws' in a vice, and squeeze them in.

(You did order the right size didn't you?)

on my 700 i had to heat the block up until it was very hot
i used a hot air gun
the bearing felt ok once cooled down but as i had just sold it i never found out if it was any good

Yep, definitely the right size. Will have another go tomorrow, try heating them up even more and se if I can get them in!!

Replaced the bearings on mine lots of times and they normally just press in,i just press them in a vice

Bearing blocks hot and bearings cold,something protective (I use a couple of bits of plywood) on the jaws of the vice and press it in.

Just make sure its aligned 100% square before you do.

2 socket spanner sockets and a G clamp keeps it straight.. some vice(s) don't run true
