  • Replacement feathering shaft bolts (TRex 700)

For anyone who has heard about the small handful of cases of TRex 700 feathering bolts snapping in flight, these might be of interest (at the bottom of the page):

    Special Hardware

They are claimed to be 3 times stronger than the standard kit bolts. I reckon I'll get some when they are stocked by someone in the UK.

Feathering shaft bolts shearing in flight?!

Wonder how long it will be before the 'new bolt upgrade'

Great skiing and all bones intact. I don't know... I go away for one week and suddenly you're flying inverted and Cupracing is doing Piroflips! lol.

There's been a bunch of people talking about it here for example but I've read a few others:

Spindle bolt sheered off - was total loss - HeliFreak

I'm sure it's a pretty rare occurrence but seeing as these bolts are only $9 for a set of 6 it's probably worth getting some.

Another case for buying some unbrako or other name brand socket hex from your local engineers supplies.
I wonder if this has ever happened with plastic main blade grips? maybe its the same story as the tail grips...
Some folks don't like the plastic grips after problems with early kits. I've been running my two 600n at 2100 and 2150 with plastic grips without issues.

This is specifically about the TRex 700 and the bolts used on the feathering shaft are a custom designed shouldered bolt so you can't just buy one off the shelf.

Both Fast Lad and Midland Helicopters are agents for Lynx, so hopefully they will get them in soon.

Dont know about the feathering shaft bolts but the frame screws are great. I have just replaced a set on a heli I was fixing for someone, not cheap but you WILL be able to unscrew them when you need to as the head of the screw is deeper than the standard align ones.

I also bought a set of Lynx frame bolts. First impression was that of high quality. Then I found that I couldn't engage the tip of my hq hex driver in many of the bolt heads. The hex holes were too small. Tried 2 other hex drivers and same deal. FL replaced the faulty bolts but still. Have now swpped out all of the OE frame bolts. Suspect that the bolts could start to seize due to galvanic corrosion further down the line though, since the screws are ss and most of the frame parts are aluminium.
