  • Should I go Flybarless with trex 700

I'm undecided. I want too, but is it worth the investment, do I have to buy new blades, I have Align 690D on at the moment. Will I notice an improvment. I need someone to give me a push and say yes go for it. But i want a some honest answers. (Pacing up and down at the moment Help)

My advise is do all the reading on here and certainly try a 3G system before you buy one.

Its one of those things you will either love or hate.

And as for your Align 690D blades.... Yes they will need replacing if you go with the Align 3G

I have no idea regarding the Mikado setup though.

I,m thinking of the 3G align system. What blades do you suggest. It,s difficult to try Flybarless, theres no one at the club I go to who has flybarless

Going by the heli's you have listed you've being flying awhile.

I'd say go for it, i put a V-Bar on my 700 and fly's really well.

As for the blades it may depend on what system you fit V-Bars tend to fly well with any blades.

But people with the Align system seem to be moving over to heaver blades.

Align recommend the Align 690's.... Its the only blade they make for the 700!

710's seem to be working well. Sab 3D 710's on mine, and it flies nice.

Good reports on the Edge Dedicated Flybarless blades too.

I only have 3 tanks on mine so far, so i cant give a full honest opinion as to how good it really is, but first impressions are pretty good!

If you want 3D performance, then without a doubt this flybarless setup seems to work a treat. I've seen it at my club and up there, out in the sky, it performs really well and shows really concise movements without any interactions (because the electronics are dialling them out, which is fine).

The only place it seems to be let down is in the hover - now if you're a 3D God, then that's no problem because you don't hover very much (if at all?), but if you're flying style is more sedentary, then the system might not be for you.

When a well setup hovering flybarred heli is hit by a gust of wind from the side, the flybar will automatically self-correct the model and keep the heli on its spot. When a flybarless heli is hit by the same gust of wind, it will stay perfectly level, but will be pushed sideways by the gust, thereby forcing a correction by the pilot which is hard to control due to the characteristics of the system.

Pros and cons really in answer to the original question depending on what you want to do with the heli........ I see flybarless as the future for 3D flying without a doubt, but not for F3C stuff.

From what I've seen of the Align system, it's excellent value for money. After all, you can sell your current gyro, main blades and the whole heli head for a modest return, and end up getting the 3G setup for next-to-nothing.

Give it a go - what's the worst that could happen?

here for example is mine (700 LE)

the video shows that elevator bounce is not a problem, the heli is very accurate. Can't say the same about the pilot, unfortunately...

This setup uses stock Align blades with 1950 RPM, the RJX head (relatively cheap), Align DS 610 servos @ 6.3 V (cheap) and a mikado V-Bar (bloody expensive).
The only downside are weird-looking push-pull links due to the ultra-short 8 mm servo arms.

Do you need flybarless? No one does. But it's great fun if set up decently.
On the other hand, a .90 is already a great heli with flybar. Look at some videos to convince yourself - apparently, Szabo and friends managed quite well with flybar all those years

Thanks for all the feed back. I think I'd already conviced myself I wanted one.
The blades to use seems to be the biggest confusion. But I'm going to give it a try with the stock blades and see how it goes.

I put a 3G on my 700, as most posts I read said that it make the heli track really well in big air moves. This is what I have my 700 for, so seemed a perfect choice. Not really had enough flights with it yet to comment on whether it is better. So far, the only major difference to me is the power and slightly longer flight times.

Plus the fact it looks really cool without the flybar !!!
                          Cheers,

Ive flown standard Trex700 and now my 700 Vbar is "dailed in" id say its worth every penny. Id love to try an Align 3G 700 but no-one I fly with is planning on getting one.

The way people have discribed the Align system to me is the heli feels like a flybared heli with more power.....but when flying Vbar you "know" its differant....perhaps why some love Vbar and others dont.

So ill give my vote for Vbar.......it takes some effort to get right...but my god its worth it.
