only just seen this thread but I would have said headspeed was too low for the hard dampners.

Pauls right the optimum rpm of the engine should be around 17600 which is where the hyper 50 peeks, which gives you a headspeed of around 2100 or just under

Had another flight today. Governer is kicking in now. However when the governor is enabled; when the rpm's are moving up from idle the rpm splutters and starts and stops and the tail flicks about until the stick is moved up to about 2/3 then it kicks in and the head speed is constant as per the ATV setting.

In the hover and during flight in all flight modes, the engine will suddenly cut and the tail will kick out very briefly. Not sure what is happening. Assume it may be something with the setup of the sensor?

Just sounds like your engine is running very rich, check the back plate temp when running, if it is cold lturn the main needle clockwise a couple of clicks to lean it, that should help, just don't run it hot until it is run in properly, eventually after a few tanks you want to lean it so when you have run it for a while in flight, land it and check the temp, you should be able to put your finger on the back plate for 5 seconds without burning it, if it starts to make funny crackeling noices then it is to lean, cut the engine to idle and richen it back up, when leaning out the engine only move the needle a couple of clicks at a time to prevent this from happening

Mine was nodding as well during its first couple of flights, gradually leaned the engine out and increased the headspeed & it stopped doing it.

Gareth I would definately disconnect the governor until youve run in the engine and got it tuned correctly and sorted out all your pitch curves.

Once their all done you can then reconnect the governor and know that if there are any problems you'll know where to look.

              Thanks guys,

I think the issue is with the low end of the throttle. The first half of the throttle range is a bit on the rich side, as is the top end, so the engine is running nice and cold, for the first dozen tanks.

I've screwed in the mixture on the low end a little, and it's helped, however on the OS hyper, the damned screw has so much lock tight in it, it's nearly impossible to screw in, i'm currently using pliers to move it.

Will spend a bit of time, as you say setting the throttle and pitch curves up, by which time the engine should be run in. Plus if the gov fails, i have some good settings to fall back on.

Main needle is currently 1 1/4 turns open.

              Thanks for the help guys
