Align super starter

I blew my starter up today trying to start my new 700 engine, has anyone got one of the new Align super starters and does anyone know if it will be powerful enough to start a 90 engine.

dissagree, mine starts t-rex 700 very easy, i know a lot of people say they wont start 90 but mine starts 600/700 first time every time.

I can tell you it will have no problem with a 90 size engine, as I have been flying today and one of our members was using this starter on his trex 700.

I have used the Align starter a few times and it starts my 90 no problem.

The Dynatron is not the only starter to start a 90! Nearly any of the standard starters with a good lipo on it will start a 90 no prob.

The starter i use is nothing special, but with a 5S lipo on it... it starts my 90 everytime.

mine starts mine but you must make sure no fuel in engine when you first run the engine over

My align starter has a 1800 25c lipo in and it starts my os 91hz in my 700le no problem at all.

i think it is worth the money but make sure go for the option that includes the battery as it works out cheaper ands you know the battery will fit as it is a little tight

Good points:

It will start a 90. However it does labour a little.

I think its a good concept.

Light weight

Cutoff built in

Volt meter built in

Uses 3s readily available (many folks have them already)

Bad Points

Soft start shaft

Tight battery compartment

Hammering on 90 engines.

BUT

I dont think its worth the money.

If you do a search I'm sure you'll find a few lengthy threads with lots of detail about the pros and cons of the Align.

Basically yes they do work. Some people have had no problems and others have had issues with them. Perhaps they have improved since they came out I don't know. I have one and it works pretty well but I am not starting .90's with it at the moment.

I had the wand get worn very fast and had to be replaced, which seems to be the biggest gripe. Second gripe would be the restrictive size of the battery compartment.

Lets face it align would have looked rather silly making a starter that wold not start there engines
