Not true Tom, My 2 stripped mod1 main gears are testiment to that fact! When i had the original head fitted, it was fine, had many many flawless flights, and now with the FBL head fitted, its stripped 2 gears, both with around only 2 and a half minutes use! Mythinking is that the FBL unit is putting a higher strain on it, combined with the electric power plant that is relentless, is just too much for the main gear to handle.

FBL allows for higher roll rate, but effectively this means more cyclic pitch on the blades. Add the increased cyclic range on top of a slightly extended collective pitch range (because you've got more power in general to pull more collective pitch) and you've got a very efficient air brake...
The problem with electrics is, torque is proportional to headspeed bogging. With enough pitch, any motor will bog, even though the torque it pulls is ridiculously high.

One solution that comes to mind is to reduce the cyclic ring parameter in the FBL controller (Mikado). Another is to run the motor at ungoverned flat x % throttle curve.
