  • 6 ch Idle up throttle curves

Been a while since I had the 600 out and as it is, only flew one tank full due to this. Spooled up, took off and all was fine then went into idle up and it started screaming its nuts off. All seemed fine last time out and I havent made any changes between then and today.

Im only running curves due to having a DX6i and no gov fitted. Any ideas anyone?

    Idle up was:- 100 80 60 80 100.

    Dropped to:- 90 75 60 75 90.

Anyone else run a 600 without a gov and can advise me on what it should be at?

    Cheers

    Mark

Do I take it 50 50 50 75 100 is just for upright flight? No good for inverted?

Cheers mate. So if I change back similer to what I had 100 75 50 75 100 to see how that goes? Just seemed for a 10% jump into idle up revs were one hell of a lot, to the point could imagine it blowing. If I do this I am unsure as to how it will be when I start getting to 3/4 stick, I imagine screaming like a good un, or will the load on the blades higher pitch help to cancel this out?

Nitro really is the dark side!

Not sure that you'd want to run the engine as high as 100% at L and H, even in stunt!!

Sounds like the engine is as lean as a lean thing. Remember damp cold weather means richening up the needle.

60 is pretty high for the mid point I'd say.

Seems to be a fair amount of smoke still. After a few mins of flying about and punching it base plate starts to feel warm after 6 seconds tho could probably leave it on there for another few seconds after.

                    Cheers

Sounds too hot Mark, in cold weather it is very difficult to use your finger as a gauge it is much better to use the smoke trail as an aid. When you climb out does the trail stay even and does it climb like a rocket? Or does it do something else. If your hovering flick it into hold and see if it hangs on the pipe all indications that it's running lean.

TBH Im not sure. All seemed fine in normal mode, climbed out fast as n smoke seemed to be ok. Literally flicked into idle up realised was way too fast n flicked back, changed curves a couple of times and had no effect kept reving its nuts off. Maybe I should alter the high needle back out, where is a rough position for it on the Align engine, presume same as an OS posistion.

                        Cheers

Same position, I'm running an OS 50 and I am out nearly 1 and a half turns on the top. As I said above as the weather gets damp and cold you need to richen up. If it was okay a few months ago and you haven't changed anything then this is what it points to. It would be fine in normal as your not using much throttle and your still on the idle to mid range. Check your top end needle and let us know what it's set at.

Yep is well in! Was about 3/4 of a turn out from fully in position. So if I wind it out to round about 1 and 1/2 turns out and set curves back as they were should this be ok? 100 80 60 80 100.

                            Cheers

Mark I would start with base settings and go from there. Something like 1.25 turns out on the top end. It's hard to say without knowing the headspeed and pitch curves whether the throttle curve is right. It's not far off mine for a headspeed of 2050 in idle up, I set these last Summer but I do use a governor.
