  • 690 or 710?

I've got loads of questions to ask ready for kitting out my 700 hehe.

I'm going to start from point one, as nitro helis to me, are very very new! So take my questions as coming from a complete nub...

I like responsive cyclic and am willing to sacrifice some stability, if that is the case...

    Which blades; 690 or 710?

Don't know whay your flying style is but when I ran 710's on my old 700 I used to cut the boom off every 3 flights... Never done it with 690's.

      I have 690 blades and 710's.

You want 690's for 3D but you can get 710 3D blades that are good.

RotorTech do excellent ones but @ £130 a pop not for everyone.
I think CY do 710 3D blades also so these will give a balance.

As a rule though 710 are smooth and 690's are poppy.

        Ouch.

So running one or the other isn't going to impede performance/stability?

          Coolios.

          I like poppy-ness

Then you will like the standard Align blades, these are very good both the C's and the D's

710's are smoother and more precise and are are a better choice because you can just dial up the cyclic rate to your desire roll/flip rate. When I ran 690's I felt that it was a bit too lary and less pop for quick stopping and autos less, I had to dial it down to bring the stability back, and I was therefore not utilising the full potential of the designed cyclic.
But it does depend on the blades!

Agreed, but in my case it cost me £500 in blades in the first month running 710's on the 700 (had booms etc on top of that too). I personally prefer 710's also, but the 700 just can't take them even in the smooth 3d that I do.

Totally stock - this was on my original 700N, haven't flown my LE yet.

had a few boom strikes myself with the standard dampers. tailslides to inverted tail first were a big no no as it would strikle every time running 700mm NHP's. Fitted a set of Truebloods and eventually dared to try another, it was fine, tried some more violent ones too and still ok. good dampers IMO

I always thought the 690's were more for 3d, until i tried Mark Lanes 700 with radix 710 SB's on, i have now ordered a set, they are superb

                            Did you auto with them?

Do they provide a good mix of stability and poppyness?

...... the 690D's are really good also but the 710SB's are definately more poppy again and add further stability without compromising flip/roll rate etc. I like them a lot, especially at my standard learning 3D as they seem a bit more accurate
