  • cheap alternative 600 tail fins

The plastic ELYQ tail fin set is an exact hole centre fit for both vertical and horizontal.

The vertical fin is about 7mm longer for extra tail blade protection
    (but is more flexible).

A cheaper alternative to the Align

I used the Trex 600 plastic and carbon fins on my Elyq when I had that.

The Elyq ones are shocking. If you land even slightly too heavy, it will bend so much that you will definitely be replacing them gears and if you are unlucky, your blades too.

    False economy imo.

hmm, yes I realise they are a bit flexible side to side. Not as stiff as the description of "special carbon reinforced plastic" implies!
      I'll try and land carefully.

I also had a knight 3D vetical on my 600 but they are also rather more flexilbe than the 600 stock glass or carbon and snap off a bit easy (I keep sticking it togeher with epoxy and bits ofold rotorblade).
I got the impression the 600 plastic is a bit shorter than the 600n carbon? or is it the same length?

A bit of broken 325 carbon main blade makes a reasonable vertical fin for a 600 but I''ve run out of broken blades from my 450...

I actually use the T-Rex 700 vertical fin on my 600. Helps give added protection when landing heavy (as I kept doing on my auto practices!), the 700 fin saved me a good few stripped gears

Agree with Gerd. I find the 700 fin far stronger and gives my tail unit much better protection.

Maybe you need more practice softer and/or tail up landings

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

I think having a pair of sissors attached to a heli is a little dangerous!!

Ah yes, you'd think so Mark, but you'd be wrong. These are not ordinary scissors. These are Align scissors and thus made of cheese.

Now there's an idea. Make your fins out of cheese on toast, then when you get peckish you can start to eat the heli

                          All my landings are careful
I don't break my tail fins in landings.
Birdie 4x4 is a beginner, so perhaps he doesn't understand that a heli travelling at over 40 mph, or that is flying upside down and/or backwards is not supposed to be landing at all!
(And no amount of reinforcing of the tail fin will work with such unintended ground contact).
